Atlantis in May AND Comfort Suites Question

We are going on our 3rd Dream 4 night cruise in mid-May and we are trying to figure out what to do in Nassau. DH wants to get off the ship. In the past we have done Blue Lagoon and Melia on our own. He is considering doing the Atlantis Aquaventure this year. It will be us and DS 7 and DS 5.

My questions are:

1. How bad are the crowds in mid May? Looking at the cruise port site, it looks like only the Dream and one other ship will be in port that day (RC Grandeur of the Seas).

2. Talk to me about getting a room at Comfort Suites vs. going thru DCL. Is it a pain to get there and back on your own? Im guessing you can actually get to Atlantis earlier if you go on your own? Any info on each would be greatly appreciated!

How was the Melia? We're considering that on our cruise in a couple weeks. What kind of transportation did you take there?

Melia was good. Nice beach area and pools as well. The resort itself could use a little TLC and def showed it's age, but for the price it was exactly what we needed for the day. I felt like if it were just DH and myself, we would have stayed longer, but the kids were getting a little bored, so we went back for a late lunch. If you go, make sure you go to the Daq Shack across the street for the best fresh fruit daiquiris you will ever have!

We took the local jitney (bus). It was super easy.
