Atlantis Bahamas...Its been 5 years is it worth it?

Yippee taking our 5th Disney cruise in September! Loved all of the ships especially the western/eastern caribbean 7 day sailings but they only thing we have ever been disappointed with is the Bahamas cruise, specifically Atlantis (dolphin experience and park twice 10- 5 years ago) Everything was so expensive, most of the resort staff even in the dolphin experience seemed unfriendly and it was filthy so much trash in the lagoon areas and water park sections. So we are trying to figure out if its even worth another visit or not...bad experience last time w dolphin pics the disk went overboard on our transfer and we never got the pics after months of calls. So looking for something new! Has anyone had a similar reaction or are we alone - anyone book the snorkel option and water park and enjoy it? Have a teen and 9 year old both adventurers. I won a trip to Atlantis 3 years ago. I stayed at the resort for 4 nights and had similar thoughts on the resort. I am glad I didn’t pay for it because I found it to be dirty, incredibly crowded once the cruise ships came in, and the staff unfriendly.

We have had the same reaction for Atlantis and I wondered why anyone would fly out there and have that be their only destination. I was so glad I could go back to the beautiful ship.

We did the Atlantis aqua adventure pass through DCL in December. I did not encounter any area that was dirty during our day. We did not make our way to the beach. My family had a wonderful time at the water park and it kept us busy. I will agree the employees did not seem very friendly or extra willing to be helpful. My son who is 10 asked to do this excursion on our 2019 cruise.

We've been to Atlantis three times (2003, 2010 and 2014) - twice staying at the resort and once as an excursion (2014). Our 2014 experience was a terrible. Disinterested, unprofessional staff, uncared for grounds and super expensive. The last time we docked in Nassau, we just stayed onboard and enjoyed a mostly empty ship!

One and done. Happy to have experienced Atlantis because we had wanted to try it for a long while. We had fun there but I would probably never return. I feel the facilities are worn and the employees were not friendly whatsoever.

Your family would probably have fun if you visit Atlantis, but only you can say for sure if it is worth it.

I'll be honest: I have not tried Atlantis. I had booked a Beach day there for our next cruise but I watched many recent videos and it didn't look that good... Or should I say, not good enough to spend the amount of money they ask for to spend a few hours on site.

We cancelled the excursion and decided to stay on the ship instead.

hmmm. On one cruise we took a cab to Atlantis just to walk around and gamble. It was Ok. We also stayed at Atlantis for 5 nights and had a good time b/c we didnt have to jam-pack the entire park into a single day.

It is very crowded so trying to see and do everything within a day would be tough and stressful.

While in Nassau, I'd rather just do a beach day at a local beach - get a day pass to the Hilton

We stayed at Atlantis for 5-nights after Christmas this past year and I echo most of the sentiments already in this thread. We thought everything was incredibly over-priced, the staff was very unfriendly (we figured this is partially just part of the Bahamian culture but it was still a little too much) and the water park while fun, definitely not worth the price if doing an excursion. The rooms & public areas weren't dirty but definitely weren't as well maintained as they should be for a place so expensive. We just went to Nassau on a DCL trip and didn't get off the ship at all. I think they have done an amazing job of selling Atlantis as this wonderful paradise destination, but in reality in really falls short of that.

But other people love it, so to each their own!

My last trip to Atlantis was in 2008, we just walked around the grounds and toured the aquarium which was really cool. It’s worth visiting once, but I don’t think anything there is worth a revisit.
