Never did I think I would see this happen in Atlantic Canada. The blockade is going on 24 hours now of having the highway shut down. All road routes into/out of NS are closed. This is having a huge impact on people (ourselves included). Any other DISboarders else impacted by this?

My coworker lives in NB, his MIL is in Nova Scotia (I believe his parents as well). They all had plans over the next few weeks to visit one another but the NS changes have made that impossible given their vacation amounts, so I've been being kept informed :) I believe the premiere's are to speak tonight and hopefully resolve things?

Halifax here, but no direct impact.

I honestly see both sides points of view on this (both Premiers). It's a shame it came to this.

🤞🤞🤞

We have to travel to Halifax tomorrow morning. We're currently booked on the ferry in case the blockade doesn't open.

I am mostly upset about the timing. We were supposed to go visit my inlaws for the first time in 8 months. My girls had a countdown and would wake up every morning - “just 3 more sleeps!”. Their bags have been packed since it was announced last week. I hadn’t bothered to tell them about the bubble reopening date back in March/April, as I knew it would likely not happen (and it didn’t), but this seemed like such a sure bet. It absolutely broke their hearts when I told them at the last minute that our trip was off. So many tears shed last night (kids and adults alike).

I think the biggest issue is that for the longest time both NS and NB have had a similar approach. Now, NS is taking the Zero-COVID route while NB is forging ahead with reopening and living with COVID. So when there are two different strategies in play it is hard to get on the same page. I’m just sad. I miss my family.

NB hit their targets early and proceeded with their plan. I knew the "Bubble" wasn't going to be a bubble once I read NB was going to open to Canada with one dose. A bubble is when there is no opening, and the opening was always in the cards for NB.

I know, and yet NS still announced that NB would still be included in the "bubble". 🤦 It's so crazy how he pulled an about face so late.

I just want the blockades gone by tomorrow morning. But somehow I doubt it will be. This was not the stress we needed driving to surgery.

:sad2: I’m so sorry. That has to be hard on all of you . Like we all haven’t been separated from our loved ones enough during all of this.

Even though the blockade is removed (yay!) NS is still requiring even fully vaccinated NBers (ie: DH and I) to self-isolate until negative test result. We are unable to do so, sadly. But thank you for thinking of us :)

Maybe Rankin will change the policies? 🤞🤞🤞 but I probably wouldn't hold my breath. It sucks, we can go to the hospital and that's it - my brother lives 1 block from there, and I still can't go see him. 😔

Our health guru spokesperson - Hinshaw (Alberta) stressed last week...it's about moving forward and living with covid that is going to be evolving and changing. I hope those in power can come to some agreement about what happens there.

I feel for all you in the situations there. I hope you get to see your families soon. We need to see and spend time with our family members now...and not just through a screen.

@mshanson3121 sending you and your family healing thoughts and prayers for a perfect surgery and a speedy recovery.

Thank you ❤️

We just crossed through the border. Took about 15 minutes to get through (compared to 2-3 minutes last week). There was still quite a large RCMP presence as there are still a few protestors camped out (and I mean they are literally camped out with tents), but they're on the side of the road at least. You definitely need all paperwork in hand - they turned away a couple vehicles directly in front of us.
