Just a note, there is a big NASCAR race in Atlanta this coming weekend, you might want to avoid Atlanta on Thursday - Sunday if heading for the Fort.

Normally I don't worry about Atlanta, but them race folks are crazy!!

Last year I crawled down I-20 cause I was passing Talladega during a race weekend.

As much as I hate to, we're going to go through Montgomery, then Auburn, then cut over to I-75 near Tifton, GA. That's where our hotel reservation for the drive down is.

Good point, but I don't go through Atlanta no matter what time of year it is.

We have gone to the Fall Atlanta race for the past 4 years, unfortunately we are not going this year, it is a great track to go to, we usually get there on Wednesday and watch the circus come to town, its a very rv friendly track.

I used to go too until they ruined racing and put Jimmie Johnson in charge. It get's boring seeing the same teams win week after week with no other competition running very close.

Back on topic though, around exit 212 is going to be a slow area.

Hey folks, somebody asked me about Sunday morning. Is there still a lot of traffic? Do folks overnight after the race?

The race is over Sunday night. Sunday morning and evening will be busy times in that area. I think a lot of the campers wait til traffic dies down then they leave.

Watch out in Cusseta, GA! I have participated in their revenue enhancement program in the past, unwillingly of course.

We always take I 65 to Montgomery. Then 231 to Dothan and I 10 to I 75.
Wouldn't going to Auburn take quite a bit more time?

The problem is, I have a prepaid hotel reservation just North of Tifton, GA, so I have to get over to I-75 there. We normally go I-20 to Atlanta, then I-75 S, so I based the hotel reservation on that route.

(Plus my oldest son lives in Auburn, and we haven't seen his place yet, so this is an excuse to drop in and say hi for a few minutes)

And actually, we're going to skip Montgomery, and go straight from Birmingham over to Auburn.
