We drive through Atlanta to get to FL and I remember seeing billboards about new Camrys for less than $20,000.
DH just totaled his 2013 and we need a replacement. Anyone know who the dealer is and if it is legit?
We are less than 2 hours away and probably worth it to save a few thousand.
Thanks!

I don't know the dealer or if that dealer is legit, but checking all the local Toyota dealers here, all of them have a few new Camry's in stock for under $20,000.

Try www.truecar.com if you're looking for a new car. We were given a quote from not-so-local dealers and we took that quote to our local dealer and they came very close to the quoted price. Since we were trading in a car and we were fairly happy with their offer on our car we went with them.

I just plugged in an Atlanta zip code into TrueCar and it returned $18,885 for a Camry LE. Search for your dream car (trim line, color, extras) and once you give them your contact information they will tell you the exact dealers. Note, they do not guarantee a specific car but they do offer "$x off MSRP". So if you have your heart set on a specific color you may want to check dealer inventory online.

I had a friend who bought from the TrueCar dealer and he said it was very easy. Since I negotiated with my dealer it was a bit more work.

It is pretty easy right now to get a 4 cyl LE for less than 20 k before the taxes and state fees. They are moving the 2014.5 models because the new swoopy 2015's just hit the showrooms.

You can do a search on autotrader, com and use a zip code like 30043 to get an idea of what is out there.

Yes........truecar is a good resource to get a relatively hassle free price.

If you are okay with a 2014, there are good rebates to be found. Your local dealer should be able to come very close to a big city dealer. New car prices are transparent with all of the websites that give invoice pricing.

Another advantage to purchasing from your local dealer is service after the sale. Dealership loyalty can go a long way when you are 500 miles out of warranty and something breaks.

I'm no so sure anymore on whether dealer loyalty will reap any benefits. Everything is computerized now, they put in the repair, the computer tells them if the automaker will pay for the repair.
The fuel pump on my daughter's car went out, I had an extended factory warranty with a $200 deductible so they gave me a $200 estimate. Then I get a panicked call from the service adviser saying the the extended warranty claim had been rejected.......so suddenly a $200 deductible repair that they had already finished was going to cost $600. I reminded him that under the law I was not obligated to pay more than the estimate. He said he was going to find out why the claim was rejected. Runs the VIN in the normal new car warranty computer, poof, it's not covered by the extended warranty because the basic warranty had been extended on the fuel pump.....so sudden I now owe nothing,

Loyalty can make a difference in a goodwill warranty situation. Between my husband and I, we have almost 27 years of experience in the automotive industry. A dealer has the option to request a "goodwill" warranty authorization from a manufacturer on cars within a reasonable mileage/time out of warranty. How hard the dealer presses for it can depend customer loyalty because the dealer knows they will only get a yes a handful of times. If you bought your car there, get it serviced there, etc., the dealer will put you as priority over the person who shopped four dealers and played them all against one another, gets oil changes at the cheapest place in town and only comes in to have a warranty repair completed.

Where you buy and get service is the right of every customer, but based on work with three different dealers that includes 7 manufacturers, I've found that loyalty consistently makes a difference in certain situations.

It's not a be all/end all in making a purchasing decision, but if I'm considering two hours travel time to buy a car for $200 less, it may play into my decision to stay closer to home, save the gas and build a relationship with a local business that could prove more valuable in the long run.

I love the relationships I have with local businesses. I find that I get lots of friendly tips on things that are of interest to me based on those relationships. It's been everything from which day the fresh produce I love is delivered to telling me about free events my kid would like to emailing me a news article that may be of interest.
