Atlanta Hotels/Priceline

If all goes well this weekend, will be going to the Atlanta/Chicago Game 1. I am going to try to get a hotel off priceline, but I really do not know much about the area. According to Bidding for Travel, my choices are:

Downtown
Buckhead
Midtown
Perimeter
Hartsfield Airport

Which of these areas would be convenient (we will have a car), and are any in a "bad" area? I am really not familiar with the area.

I plan on bidding on a 4 star hotel (if anyone is interested in the "choices" the website with the list is http://pub210.ezboard.com/fpricelineandexpediabiddingatlanta.showMessage?topicID=307.topic)

If money is a factor I'd go with the airport. Stick to the recognizable chains. Downtown is probably closer but will be more expensive and it wouldn't surprise if timewise its the same. On the other hand if you have time to see the town being in downtown means you can go to Underground and that sort of thing.

Being a native long islander transplanted to north jersey I wouldn't have a problem with either of those options. Niether seem less safe to me than staying in New York.

...Just looked at your list... The two locations I suggested are the closest to the stadium. If you are going to spend some time and don't mind driving you might also enjoy staying in Marietta...mega shopping, eating, restaurant complexes over that way. Or by my mom's in Stone Mountain....the Evergreen is actually inside the park so there would be a lot of touristy type things to do. Maybe even a laser show. Either one of these would be at least a half hour...maybe more if there is an accident.

Thanks for your help, I got the Wyndham Atlanta (downtown) for $48 from Hotwire. I am very pleased with that!
