YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought this stuff was awful!! My neighbor bought the mix and gave it to me to make. I used my bread maker and it smelled great but the taste was awful. It was very bland and spongy. I will save my money and stick with the Natures Own reduced carb.

My SIL tried it and said it tasted sour--not in a good way--like sour milk.

We have been eating the pancake/waffle mix. We were a huge Saturday Morning waffle eaters. The Atkin waffles has a hint of almond flavor. This last time, I but in a little cinnamon--very good. I do not like the Atkins maple syrup (coming from New England I am a real maple sryup lover). I whip up some cream, add splenda and top the waffle with that. A few (ok, a lot) slices of bacon and we are all in a dream!!

Yep I agree with you Mum....Yuck is a good word!!! lol. I bought the bread already made and frozen...it almost made my DH stop doing atkins because he was sooo discusted with having to give it up forever. Natures Own really does have the BEST bread...I found that I need to freeze it to keep it longer than 4 days.

Where do you get Nature's Own reduced carb bread?? I've never heard of it. Can you get it at the regular grocery store?

Most grocery stores carry it. I have seen it at Super Walmart,WinnDixie and Publix. I would think that most any store that carries the Natures Own brand should have it. It is 5 NET carbs per slice. They also have a sugar free bread but it has more carbs. I emailed them and they have in development Hamburger buns and Hot Dog buns!!

DITTO!!! OMG!!! I read your post the other day and thought, "Its low carb bread...how bad can it be? I'll be happy to have anything CLOSE to bread!!" WELL, I made it today and true, smells good, tastes like you are eating a sponge. DH described it as rubber. I am going to toast it for BLT's tonite. Maybe better. Atkins Orange-Cranberry muffin mix is good...

Update on the bread---better if it is toasted!!! Had it with BLT's, and was good!!

I tried the Atkins bread too (toasted) & I am with the majority here, YUK!!!!
I haven't broke down & tried the Nature's Own yet. I am afraid to indulge in things that might send me back to my old ways of eating. I am already developing an addiction to macadamia nuts (thanks Karyn) & s/f chocolate. I want to try to go back to eating more salads & meats before it gets any worse. ;)

If you want a good bread substitute, try the recipe for Sherrie's Savory Burger Buns on page 3 of the Low Carb Recipes thread... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=247238&perpage=15&pagenumber=3

They look a little strange, but are as close to "real" bread as you can hope to get for sandwiches - and very low carb. No rubber, no odd taste, no $5 a loaf. ;)

If you want waffles to die for, take out the garlic, onion and parsley, and add a little cinnamon. Yummmm!

Log Cabin makes a pretty good sugar-free pancake syrup, and I hear good things about Cozy Cottage, too.
