Any advice would be awesome!!

How come the rates are so darn high when you try to book early?

I need to fly from Moline, IL to Orlando August 4, and return August 15.

I should fly ATA because I had to cancel another flight this year that I was going to have. so I have about $150 credit coming to me. I have to book my flight by Dec. 30 to save this credit, or I lose it.

I also need three other tickets as well. So I was thinking of booking my flight, using my credit, and then waiting to purchase for my family since rates are so high. $260 round trip with taxes and fees.

Incidently, on the trip I had to cancel this past March 2003, I looked at rates before Christmas and they were high, but when I looked on December 30th, they dropped significantly (I booked a flight for March 2003 for $150 to Dallas) What do you think the liklihood of that repeating itself this December?

Thanks a bunch!

This is exactly what I did for our trip this spring - I had a voucher I had to use so I bought my ticket and later purchased for the other three - when prices had gone down.

I have heard there are good chances that airfare will be up now and in the future because of extra fees being applied to the airlines for security and such - just a rumor I heard!

We fly ATA from Chicago to Orlando a couple of times a month. The trick with them is to watch for one of their sales. Their fares used to be reasonable all the time, but lately they've gone up, up, up. But they are currently running a sale that allowed us to get tickets for Feb. for around $130 before taxes and fees.
