At what point, can we in the Northeast conclude that this summer is a washout?

I actually think the weather's been awesome!

Gotta disagree with you on this one. I think this is actually one of the nicest summers we've had. Sure, we haven't had a lot of those 90+ degree days w/humidity, but I HATE those days anyway. This week we've had a lot of rain, but other than that, I think the weather's been beautiful.

It's only July 15th--I feel like summer is just beginning (kinda;) )
::yes:: ITA.

This week is the first week all summer that has been a little crummy but the rest has been fabulous. Remember last summer when it rained every single stinkin' weekend? Now 2003 was a wash out.

I also remember the summer of 1999 very well since I was 8-9 months pregnant and lived in a second floor apartment with no A/C! I'll take this year over that anyday.

New England only has 2 seasons:

Crappy and GET ME THE HECK OUT OF HERE! We're nearing in on the second one. I love the heat. I hate winter. I'd give anything to move out of here. But I can't. I'm stuck here until dd's 18. And that's a loooong time away.

Actually, this summer hasn't been too bad. It's just the rain and the cold temps this week that's annoying.

I just said this morning that I can't believe this is the middle of July. I've been cold all day today. :( We rarely have summers like this. We usually get hot and humid. I like hot and humid. I miss seeing the sun. The kids have been in the pool once since we opened it. This is a really weird summer.

I just want to know one thing- WHERE IS THE SUN?

We New Englanders need to ban together and put the entire state of Maine on wheels and haul it closer to Florida. This summer, so far, has not been very sunny or warm.

I really feel sorry for anyone who is vacationing in Maine this week, especially if they are staying in a tent or came up to spent time on the beach. Then again, I suppose the movie theatres and shopping malls are enjoying this weather.:)

If there's no snow outside and I can wear shorts, it's a good summer. I don't need to be in the 90's or the humidity.

Shorts? You're lucky. I haven't worn shorts all summer. And a couple of weeks ago, I noticed a HUGE snowpile from last winter in the parking lot of a local mall that never melted. So just be glad you're not here. ;)

My boss picked this week to go on vacation. I pity him. :p

It's cool and rainy here in WNY , Glad we were at the Jersey shore last week, it was awesome. 80 and sunny everyday. We had atleast one week of summer too enjoy. :sunny: :sunny: please come back

I heard on the news we have had 1(count it, 1!!!) 90 degree day so far and that was in June. As of July 15th we only had 4 days in July that even hit 80!!!! Thats nuts!
Ill admit, maybe the 90s are a bit hot, but 80?

And yes Stinkerbell, I remember 1999. I was pregnant, nauseous, and the heat did wonders for me. ;) But Id still prefer that weather over what we have had so far this summer. Its miserable... not summer at all. Thats why Im headed to FL!!! :teeth:

I have loved my first summer here in the mountains of PA, it's been incredible. No humidity, lots of sunny days, sure we've had rain but the gorgeous days far out weigh them, it's really been beautiful.

I don't think I could ever go back to the super humidity again, I've worn shorts every day this summer, gone to the waterpark all with out that extreme sticky heat, I don't miss it one bit! :)

No humidity??? Where are you...I think the humidity here is PA is worse than FL and at least in FL you have the beaches! I think summer has been pretty good so far...not to hot...spring was a miss but summer has been nice. And we very much needed the rain. Of course I feel bad for those folks in Jersey...and summer isn't over until September 23....the Fall solstice...we still have a long way to go!

I remember a bad summer like this the year we moved here from Pittsburgh - 1992.

TIGGER'SFRIEND: funny you should mention the Jersey Shore. I was just on-line looking at places to stay. My relatives used to have a summer home there and I haven't been there in a long time. I was just talking to some cousins about it......We all miss it.

Where did you stay?

WEll, I like the fact that it hasn't been hot AND MUGGY but I could do with a little less rain. My DH just had to go to our camp and rescue our paddle boat (that is usually on the shore of the lake on a platform) because it was floating away because the lake is up so high!!! Thank God our camp neighbors called.

A neighbor friend left last Fri for their wk at Cape Cod. Im hoping they had a little better weather there than we did here in central MA
We're leaving for the Hampton Beach area next Thurs for a wk. Hoping for sunny days.

They did say on the news just the other night that usually by now we have had (7) 90degree days. This yr we have had One

I love this weather!! I'm thrilled we haven't hit 90 here yet. This is just perfect. The windows are open and the cool breeze is blowing.

I'm loving NEPA at the moment!

Yes. Me too. ::yes:: We got married in August, 1992 and I think we got one of the best days of that entire summer. It was cool, but at least the sun was out.
