at what age do you quit having aunts/uncle/cousins to your childs birthday party?

funny i came upon this thread, DD is turning 16 and this is the last big party bash we celebrate inviting friends exstended family. next year for 17 i will just invite the grandparents and finally go out to dinner.

I have to laugh because i use to all these years except fior the last 2 years send out of state family invites, noing they will not come. well the last 2 years i have not sent the invites and low and behold, dsil calls today and wants to know why she was not invited to her neices bparty, because she will be in town. No one told us she will be in town and when dd called her to tell her the time can you belive dsil says, hmmm i will try my best to come in but i cant make any promises, besides why are you havinh your party two weeks before your actaully birthday. OMG she knows we have 2 wedding showers, my sister (the God Mother )will be out of town, i dont understand when we have it is a big problem, besides dsil is not going to drive 13 hours or pay for airfare to fly in just to stay 2 1/2 days. :rotfl:

Maybe we should tell all of our friends who have no kids....that when they do have kids, they need to think about this situation before they start with the first party! HA!

My DS will be 11 next month. We just planned it out. On his actual birthday we are inviting grandparents & godparents to our house for BBQ and cake. On the following Saturday he's inviting about 6 boys from school (my guess is most won't be there due to vacations - summer is hard on a b-day!) for a pool/pizza party. I'm thinking this will be it for the second party. This is the first year we aren't inviting all the other aunts & uncles. I gets to a point where, IMHO, it's not fair to be taking up their time & money.
