bringing a stroller to Disney World?

We have a Maclearan that we bougt for our first trip with our son. He was 8 months at the time. It's lightweight and collapses really easy. I also love how it has the strap to carry it over your shoulder and since DH and I are both tall I appreciate the handle height. Despite how easy it is, we are thinking about leaving it home this time.

He's now 3.5 and never uses the stroller at home. I don't want to rent them in the park since that is expensive and he shouldn't need it for most of the day.

I don't want to wish I brought it though.

So anyhow, I'm just curious about what age your kids were when you ditched the stroller.

My DD will have just turned 4 when we go in March. I'll be bringing it with. If anything we'll leave it at the hotel room in the morning and if her feet start to hurt we'll go back for nap/rest time and bring it back with us for the evening. We also have a Maclearen, when we went last time she was 2.5 and my then 5 year old used it occationally.

My kids were 3, 5 and just a few weeks shy of 7 for our last trip and all three rode for most of the trip. In fact I bought a double jogger off Craig's List for that trip. We plan on all three kids still riding this August too.

My boys are 5 and we are going in APril I just asked my sons if they want us to bring strollers and one said yes and the other said no way mom I dont sit in stollers anymore. I think we will bring both Maclaren Volo's just in case. When we were there last May we used them lots.
Just wanted to add, they dont use strollers at home, just when we are in Disney.

Our youngest will be a month shy of being 4 when we return to the World this May and I know for the most part she won't use it during the day because she'll want to keep up with the rest of us, expecially her big sis who happens to be 10 but as the evenings go on she'll probablly use it to save her energy. We're the type of family that stays in the park all day and night, so if she gets tired and whiney she'll propably take a quick nap or two in it. If nothing else we'll use it to help with our bags and any purchases we may buy while in the parks.

I would like to get a slightly used Maclaren; perhaps one from a consignment shop to take with us, that way I won't have to pay the full price of a stroller when for the most part when we return home she won't use it.

My son is about to be 5 and I have no plans to stop bringing his stroller as of yet. My sister has a 7 year old and she doesn't bring a stroller but she does sometimes rent one while there when he just can't walk anymore. It can be tiring for him still.

We stopped having the boys use the strollers when they were five years old. That being said, the first time we didn't have one when they were just five, we stayed from opening until close (11 pm) and they fell asleep on the boat and we could barely get them moving. We wished we had a stroller at that point. My DD is 3.5 and we will definitely bring a stroller for her. We wouldn't need one if we went in order around the park, but we use fast pass to the fullest extent and sometimes that means crossing the entire park to get to a headliner ride.

My boys will be 3 and 6 when we go in March. I plan on them both still riding in the stroller when they get tired. They both rarely use one at home, but I rather bring along a stroller than deal with a tired whining kid!! LOL!!

We have a phil and ted that is a double stroller, so they both can ride at the same time.

My 3.5 yr old didn't use the stroller at all in September when we had it, but when we went back in May that was all he(4) wanted. So we will be bringing it agina this time. He never used a stroller, but Disney is different. Not only the walking, but all the excitement can be draining too! I also need the stroller when my hands are full and the kids are sleeping, just too much stuff! lol

We only used a stroller once, when youngest DD was 2 1/2. Second trip she was 5, no stroller. We just make sure we travel at a pace comfortable for all in the family, take lots of breaks, drink lots of fluids, and enjoy our vacation.

I can't imagine not having one for a 3.5 year old. On our Nov 2006 trip DD was 4 and 10 months and while she didn't use it all the time, there were pleanty of days we needed it. BUT, we are commando tourists for the most part (days in park we go rope drop to close but we take whole days off too).

Our youngest turned 4 in October and we will for sure be bringing it on our next trip. She doe's not use it at home only for long trips, but I don't think she could make it all day at Disney without it;)

4 yrs of age. He didn't use the stroller at home so we had no qualms about leaving it behind.

My DD will be 5 in March and we are heading there in Feb for her 5th trip. She rode in the stroller the first visit, and that was rare. She walked most of the trip. Since then she walks. Her sister will be 3 in April and she walked alot last Sept. too. She will still be in her mac. volo though. She can just hop in and out.

If all else fails go to walmart and buy a cheapo umbrella stroller or you can get the $40 stroller they sell at the parks.

Haven't used one since DD10 turned 4. It has never been an issue. We go from park open to park close. Just take breaks when you need them. I still remember my first stroller free trip. It was HEAVEN!

Hello. This is my first time posting on this board. We are leaving for WDW in 17 days. My son will be 5 and my daughter will be 2 next month. I wouldn't even consider not bringing the double stroller. He is an active little boy and does not use it at home, but we used it a lot when we went in Sept. I'm praying that he will still fit comfortably in it this Sept. when we hope to go again!

It's not worth leaving it at home. I have a nearly 4 year old and there's no way he's making it thru AK or Epcot for even a monring with out a small push. It's a lot of rolling hills and long distances for short legs to rides. There's no way he's carrying any of his things for the day so then the parents get to looking mule-like, i don't mind pushing a fair sized baby bag but I'm not hitching on a 50lb back pack all day. Carrying a toddler and whining are not worth the freedom. There's also a fair amount of standing involved in any given day that wears me out more than the walking i can't imagine being a toddler.

My boys were both 4 when they stopped using a stroller in WDW. We brought the stroller for our daughter last September when she was 4 and she hardly used it.

We just went last month for 8 days and we left the stroller at home. She did great! We were there all day and most nights. If she got tired, we took a break.

It was so nice not having a stroller. I don't carry much to the parks so, not having a place for the bag was no issue at all.
