At what age did you let your child watch

Mine younger one was 11 1/2.

I think it depends on the maturity of an individual girl as well.

On the one hand, some of the relationship stuff is over the top, but on the other hand, it's no worse than what she sees at school in RL. (RL is sans the "fatal attraction" component, though! ) It does give us a platform to talk about what's wrong with the obsessive nature of Bella and Edward's relationship, but she doesn't see things that deeply. It's just a fun story for her. And she thinks Edward is da bomb. LOL

DD was 5. Caught her watching "I Am Legend" on HBO one day and "The Invasion" on another, which she thought were "awesome." So I figured there should be no problem with "Twilight." She loved it, has listened some to the audio books, and has seen "New Moon." She even had a NM birthday for her 6th. People get a real kick out of a 6 year old explaining the books, movies, and the relationships of the characters.

I agree maturity is a factor and we too are pretty open when it comes to the censor level in our house.

Both of my kids have watched both movies. The relationship part of it to them is secondary to the vampires/wolves aspect and they love that stuff.

Thanks for the replies. My daughter really wants to see it and I told her I would have to see it first. Well, I did and it is really not as bad some of the stuff she has seen on the Disney Channel. There was an episode of the Suite Life where they were trying to get their girlfriends in their dads apartment. What I mean is... they new their dad was not there and they wanted alone time with thier girlfriends. I realize I didn't watch the whole episode because I made them turn it off, but what kind of message is that sending our little ones. Looking for the opportunities to have alone time. Of course, we will fast forward any parts I dont agree with, but I think if I am with her we should be ok.

My DC 9 watched with my ma. I havent seen it yet but shes begging to watch it again with me. Now shes become vampire obssed and wants to check out the "mineral point" vampire which is a local thing.

my youngest was 10 but i don't believe much in sensoring stuff. As long as they are reading whatever they read is fine with me. If they want to see the movies I don't mind either, they aren't growing up to be serial killers or nymphomaniacs,
