At WDW for 7 days - 5-day worth it?

We arrive too late on day 1 to make a park with our little ones and leave WDW at around 11 on day 7. We are doing a non-park dinner show and getting some pool time on day 4. With park hoppers, should we go for 4-day or 5-day tickets? It is a $42 difference, which does not break our bank, but I obivously do not want to waste it.

Sounds like a great plan - I would purchase the 4 day tickets and then add another day if you feel you need/want it. As long as you add it before you leave the park on your last park day it will be the same cost as purchasing the 5 day now.

Just visit guest relations in the park prior to leaving that last day and add the additional day if you decide to do this.

We would get it, because we always stay right next to one of the parks and it is very easy to hop in for a bit even on the pool/down day.

The only problem with adding when you are there is you are giving up the chance to book FP+ for that day. This is difficult to answer without knowing where you are staying and how quick getting to park is. If you are staying in close proximity to one, I would definitely take advantage of the extra day and book FP+ in advance.

Staying at POFQ the whole time. We will not likely spend more than a half day total at DHS. It will be our fist time adding Epcot to the mix.

I always enjoy a wildcard last day, to re-do favorites or catch a ride that happened to be down earlier

I would just spend the little more and add the day. Last time we went we had a resort day. While it was nice to relax, I would've rather just rather went to a park-even if for only a bit. Park hoppers make it easier too. We didn't have hoppers last time.

This time we added hoppers and got the extra day. We figure we will put some relax time a couple days throughout the week. We are hoping to do a bit of everything for relaxation. As of now we have plans to do the following (whether it happens while we are there who knows). Couple afternoon breaks, later morning getting started, and an early evening. Will see how that works out.

Everybody's different, but for that short a trip I'd add the extra day. 4 days isn't enough time to do justice to the parks, especially MK, which really deserves 2 days. If you think DHS will only be a half day then you've already got built in resort time. AK might not be a full day either, if you'll be there before ROL and the evening safari start. Either of those would work for your dinner show day.

Yeah, I got the 4 for 5 deal as well. I think even a half day at that price is worth it...

As you said - it's not much add'l but you can always play by ear if you don't want to just get it now and upgrade. Even if you can't get FP for that day, you can always plan to do some of the lower line/show activities in the parks that day (and you should still be able to get some decent choices at most parks a day in advance). For example - you can save some of World Showcase at Epcot for that day where almost nothing has a line.

I would do 5 day. You never know if you'll get shut out of your pool time due to weather, too. We always do tickets for every day except our two travel days. We didn't do it once and regretted it after the fact.

I'd book the 5th day even if just to go to a park for only 2.5 hour and using the 3 fast passes. Give you more pool time a different day and still get to do the same # of attractions unless you don't plan on using fast passes for the most popular attractions anyway. If the little one really just wants to meet the characters once and then ride dumbo multiple times it might not be worth it.
