with an entertainment rate? Or how to get any other discounts at Universal? Disney has so many ways to approach their reservations dept. - I've pretty much mastered that - what can you tell me about Universal reservations?

When we booked our room last week all we did was ask the person on the phone to give us all of the discounted rates they offered. They did that without any hesitation. We wanted the Entertainment rate, but, unfortunately, they did not have any more rooms available. We decided to do the AAA discount, which was only $11 more per night. Not too bad. All in all, they were extremely helpful in getting us the best rate we could get.

Been there, done that, going back!!!

I now work for a very large hotel chain that participates in the entertainment card program. Booking is simple, just buy the entertainment book anytime before your trip, and call the hotel and let them know you have the card. If there are rooms available at that rate they'll let you have one (usually hotels set aside a set amount of rooms for each special rate; say maybe 20 rooms per night for entertainment rate). Just make sure to call early and you shouldn't have a problem getting the entertainment rate.
