Ok, I know, you all told me if we loved Delfino..we weren't going to like Bice. Well, our friends didn't make it into town, so we had a spare night and decided to try it.
I have to say..the service is not good. The food, mediocre to less than that with a huge price tag.
They brought out the bread, two kinds a foccocia and a regular type bread, not fresh more like day old. Very dry. The dips, a garlic spread, oil with red pepper in it and a tuna spread (think pureed tuna salad). Dips were ok, would have been much nicer with fresher bread.
For appetizer, hubby had the mussels. They were over done..and like rubber pulling them out of the shell. Not good. The sauce..was ok, he said..a red sauce. I had a 1/2 portion of lobster asaparagus risotto. It looked beautiful when they set it in front of me..but, I couldn't smell anything. I figured I should be able to smell something..it had a beautiful red color with lots of herbs throughout, the put parm cheese on top. No smell, no flavor, the lobster, while the pieces were good size was chewy. I keep fresh hunk of parm at home and grate it as we need it. I am not sure what type of parm they put on top my risotto, but it too, had no flavor what so ever. So far a huge disappointment.
On to dinner. I had the halibut with mashed potatoes and fresh steamed vegetables. It tasted ok..a very mild fish, nothing special about the potatoes, veggies were done just right. Hubby had the lamb shank with some type of risotto underneath it. He said the lamb shank was ok, nothing to crow about and the ristotto again, tasteless.
We passed on dessert, they did bring us out a plate of little cookies, again, the cookies well, left a bit to be desired.
We had pelligrino water with the meal, it was not kept cool like we are used to, they put the bottle on the table..and never once repoured it.
The wines with dinner were fine. The meal before tip was $210.
Needless to say, we wish we would have listened to all who said it wasn't worth it and we will never visit again.
