At OKW, is being near the Hospitality house a must?

We actually prefer being away from HH, in the Turtle Pond or South Point areas. Much quieter and more relaxing for us.
Those are my favorites, too! :thumbsup2

DH said next time we stay, he wants to be near HH. I didn't think our walk from SP bad at all. We had a 4 year old at the time, too, and she didn't even complain.

Remember, that one bedroom and larger units at OKW had a design change. Buildings under number 30, and that includes all the near HH buildings, have only a single entrance to the master bath...through the master bedroom. Buildings 30 and above (Old Turtle Pond, South Point & 62, 63 & 64) have bathroom entrances through the master bedroom AND the laundry room. Depending upon the make up of your traveling party, that extra entrance may be important.

FYI-- Most of the HH catagory is currently under refurbishment. That means it is NOT available now, and I have no idea how long it will be down, but I will ask before we leave. Buildings 23, 24, 25, and 26 are closed and there is a big temporary burlap fence around the area.

Thanks for reconfirming that renovation of 23-26 are ongoing, I am looking forward to my GV in 25 in June especially since it will be all “nice and new”.

I booked HH because at the time thought we had a couple of teenagers coming with us and it would make it easy for them to come and go to the main pool and other facilities at HH. Now it is not that important but I will see how I like it, I am a building 55 2nd floor person myself.

I like 55 too, but my favs are 45 and 46, and I'm on the 2nd floor of 46, so I'm a happy camper this week!

It is now guaranteed on your ressie if it is available when you make your ressie.:goodvibes

I actually had it on my ressie, and STILL didn't get it. Wasn't available they said when I checked in on Jan. 17.

Probably because of the rehab Diane posted about.

That's interesting. Thanks for letting me know. Was the design changed during development, or is it planned as part of the rehab? Will all buildings eventually be designed that way?

I've only stayed in units where the laundry door opens into the bathroom. I can't imagine it the other way! Considering the units only have 1 bathroom, I could see where that would be quite awkward depending who was traveling with you! :confused3 I'm going to take a big leap here, and say that someone caught that during development...say around building 30? :goodvibes

I had requested HH area this past summer and got building 27 (not considered HH, but close enough), previously we had building 13. I preferred 27, the only noise we heard were the people above us. We had a couple of 12 yo with us so we would send them out to see what bus was passing, we would wait 5 minutes then stroll over to the HH to catch it on it's way out.

It is not part of a rehab, the design change was made during initial development of the buildings. Remember that OKW was built in several phases over a few years. DVC was a new venture for Disney, they started out slow, sort of building as they needed. There was even the possibility that OKW would not have been finished, like VB, if sales has been disappointing.

Not likely you will get "near HH" for March. We are here at OKW right not, and currently all of the "near HH" buildings in the Penninsular Road loop are closed for refurbishment. They could be ready by then, buy who knows!

If you don't want to move, call and cancel your "HH" catagory room. Frankly, I don't see the facination with HH catagory myself. I prefer to be away from there. There are MUCH better areas at OKW than that one. We are currently here in our favorite building 46!!!

Exactly. The best thing about "near HH" is that I won't ever get that area, my least favorite at OKW.

Bldg 46 is pretty great.

Although we haven't stayed there yet, the appeal for us is the kids being close to the big pool which is where they will want to spend a lot of time. It's definitely different for everyone.

When I made my reservation for next Jan the CM asked if I wanted HH so..having never been there... said OK. We'll see how we like it and explore the resort to see if it's somewhere we'll try and stay at again or not..should be fun to explore though :)
