Right now we have a trip in March at OKW in a studio near the hospitality house ( I think that is guaranteed, it is listed in my reservation). Well, we are planning on adding 2 nights to our reservation at okw, but we dont know if we can get near hospitality house. We dont want to have to move to a different studio if it is not. Is a regular studio the whole week in any location of okw perfectly fine?

When are you there? We are in a HH 2-Bdrm at OKW from March 15-22. We could be neighbors...

Not likely you will get "near HH" for March. We are here at OKW right not, and currently all of the "near HH" buildings in the Penninsular Road loop are closed for refurbishment. They could be ready by then, buy who knows!

If you don't want to move, call and cancel your "HH" catagory room. Frankly, I don't see the facination with HH catagory myself. I prefer to be away from there. There are MUCH better areas at OKW than that one. We are currently here in our favorite building 46!!!

We were just at OKW in Dec. and we were in bldg 62, which is not a HH bldg, but is right across from the HH. It is an elevator bldg. If you want the convenience of being near the HH, pool, water taxi to DTD, etc..., then keep your HH booking. The resort itself is pretty big. If you will be using HH ammenities a lot, then walking from Turtle Pond or South Point would get tiring. If you aren't going to be using the HH ammenities often, then I think the other areas are just as nice and are more secluded if you like privacy.

All busses stop at the HH last, so you can hop on any bus if your room is far from the HH.

I always request Turtle Pond Road, I like the seclusion, but I always get a rental car.

I have stayed everplace and IMHO some of the HH units are my least favorite.

We actually prefer being away from HH, in the Turtle Pond or South Point areas. Much quieter and more relaxing for us.

That said, a few year ago, prior to the HH category designation, there was a room ready in bldg 14 when we arrived, so we took it. It was nice, but we missed Turtle Pond.

If you'll be in a studio, and will be doing laundry during your stay, I really prefer the other laundry rooms over the HH area, so you aren't marching past the check-in area, restaurant, bar and snack bar with your dirty laundry. The studio laundry rooms are located by all 4 pools at OKW.

We've stayed close to the HH twice and Turtle Pond once. I like being close to HH for the "convenience" factor.....but I LOVED Turtle Pond for the seclusion. It was sooo peaceful and beautiful. It felt like we were in a litte resort town. I loved it.

I noticed this thread and had a quick question. We are planning a trip in sept. hopefully starting at AKV and then moving to OKW. When we stayed here 3 years ago I had requested a number of possible buildings based on reccomendations all near the HH so the kids would be close to the pool but we ended up way in the back of the resort. It was my understanding that requests weren't a for sure thing and were purly luck if you got what you wanted. It was nice where we were anyway...golf corse views..quiet (except for the landscaping/lawmowing that was often very early...that drove me nuts on the rare occassion we wanted to sleep in..you know...past 6(lol!) Is this HH category a new thing and is it really deffinate if you request it at the time you make a reservation? thanks so much for clearing this up for me!!!!

It is now guaranteed on your ressie if it is available when you make your ressie.:goodvibes

near HH studio is currently available for March (that weekend specifically) since I had to check for someone I figured I'd let you know that.

Anyway I loved where they put us within that category. We were right across from the bus stop, first floor.

But I spoke to a lot of ppl on the buses that preferred to be out of the way. They said it was quieter and more peaceful when you had a room farther back in the resort.

So I guess it's all about personal perspective. We prefer to be close to the main building/pool/bus stop and will trade off a bit of excess noise for it.

The "near HH" booking category began, I think, in 2008. It is new since your last OKW visit. Same number of points as the rest of OKW, for now.

We have always requested to be by Turtle Pond pool. Love that it is out of the way and quiet. Have many memories of grilling at pool while the kids swam. If we want to go to main pool we either walk or take a bus there.

Bldgs 11 to 14 and 23 to 26 are in the "near HH" booking category.

We had reservations for a studio near the Hospitality House two weekends ago. Just like you it was listed on our reservations. It didn't happen. We wound up in building 34 and were told specific building requests are just that, requests. Our room was lovely and had a nice water view, but it was a looong walk to the Hospitality House.
