At Disney's Hilton Head now and loving it. Beautiful resort. It has exceeded my expectations. It truly feels Disney which I wasn't sure how much it would. The 2 bedroom villa we have is in excellent shape and we have a good location and view in building 14.

The weather yesterday was nice and we checked out Disney's beach house and walked along the beach. Today was a rain out but we still had fun. Unfortunately this was just a girls' weekend trip and we have to leave tomorrow.

We hoped to meet Shadow but when we asked about it they said he would be aroun tomorrow at 2 which is after we will be leaving. I think I'm in trouble and want to buy more points now.

How far did you have to travel for your gals weekend? It sounds like a perfect place for one!

Myself and one other flew from Rochester NY. The other three ladies drove in from North Carolina.

For the NYers we just had a really early morning flight on Friday and we are leaving on a dinner time flight tonight (Sunday).

It was the only amount of time we could get away from kids and husbands but we were just saying having one additional night would have been even nicer. : )

Tell me more! I am planning a trip in May 2013. Just me and my husband. I would love to know what all yall have done? Did you play tennis or golf or rent a boat? Do they even have boat rentals?

Pictures please!

Yes,yes-do tell us more! Let me dream thru your reports til we return at Thanksgiving. Too bad you'll miss Shadow. But now you have a good reason why you HAVE to go back=you must meet Shadow!

I'm at the airport now but I will gladly post some pics tomorrow.

We were there such a short time we didn't do too much.

We walked around resort and took pics, went to Disney's private beach house and walked on the beach. The facilities there were great and I could picture spendin a lot of time there with my boys when I can return in warmer weather.

We drove over to an area called sea pines and looked at the lighthouse and some of the shops. We went to the campfire that they had at the resort and made s'mores and sang along like we were kids.

Other than that we really just hung around and enjoyed spending time together because some of us haven't seen eachother in awhile.

The resort was so nice because we had a marsh view villa that was so peaceful. I enjoyed sitting on the balcony eating some breakfast and just being outside.

They provide a list of activities at the resort check in. There was quite a bit going on it seemed.

Disneys HHI resort is a gem among DVC resorts. Every member should experience it. It is a great themed resort but what also makes it so great is HHI itself.

Hi....where did you fly into and what airline? Been thinking about doing this for years....!!!

We flew Rochester to Charleston on Delta on Friday morning. It was through a connection in Atlanta. We went on the 620am out of Rochester and we got to Charleston at 1057 in the morning. It was pretty quick overall except the line for security that early in the morning in Rochester was the worst I have ever seen it. Flights to Savannah were more money so we went through Charleston.

On the way home we did not leave Charleston until Sunday at 635pm and that didn't put us in Rochester until 11pm! If I was doing just a weekend again I would try to stay one more night and get a Monday morning flight out instead. Sunday night was late and boy were we tired! One more night would have been better.

Delta was the cheapest at the time we booked which was only about a month ahead because this was a last minute idea! I usually book airfare way before that. Usually when we do Disney we do best price wise on ROC to MCO through Airtran.

Driving from Charleston was not bad. Googlemaps gave options of a more scenic route on 17S or a slightly quicker route on 95. We took the scenic route. It took us about 3 hours to get down there but our lunch stop was probably about an hour. We stopped for lunch in Beaufort, SC.

If prices are the same Savannah is much closer I guess. But from what I hear it is a small airport and it makes me think that prices will not be cheaper. I know when we checked the price difference more than made up for our rental car and gas for the whole weekend.

Almost everyone I knew said it was crazy to go from Rochester to Hilton Head for just a weekend but it was awesome and it was just what I needed to feel recharged. I highly recommend it!

Hh is one of my favorite places to just relax!!

Love the porches and rocking chairs and a book to read and a beverage to sip on.

Duh plays golf and when he returns we do the sight seeing stuff. We aren't big beach people. In the three or four visits, we have been to the beach once just to look around. But that is one of the things that makes it specia, something for everyone.

It would be a great girl's only trip place.

Be careful!!! Addonitis will follow!!! We love this resort and added on there in 2002 and in 2010 to get summer 11 month window. We do every year - late spring early summer and usually add 1-2 days there before or after WDW xmas week trip. We love the CMs , the whole resort, the island ...everything!!!
Heading there June 6-10. We drive from Boston.

Glad I saw this thread. I'm seriously thinking of buying HHI. My current home is SSR, but I'm having a severe case of addonitis and HHI is more or less driving distance from my home in SE VA. For those of you who are HHI owners, what made you choose it? Do you also have ownership at one of the World resorts?

I an owner at OKW since 1994 and after my first visit to HHI I wanted to add on. Its our relaxing vacation. I especially wanted the 11 month window for summer months(although I have gotten august at 7 months but not my first choice). We go early June each year although we went for July 4th last year and it was great. Love the whole resort, the beach house and of course that gorgious beach. Great restaurants..wonderful CM, close for trips to Savannah and BeaufortSC...too much to list here.

Do it!

We own at HHI, and also at OKW and BCV. For us, we specifically chose HHI because we wanted to get Thanksgiving, a time when the resort is always sold out. Ironically we've never been to HHI in the summertime and have no desire to either. We just love everything about being there at Thanksgiving. Just a word of warning about buying points there-it's such a small resort that it took us 8 months to find a contract that we wanted with our UY.

Thanks, Connears and Simba's Mom. :goodvibes

I'm looking at it for the same reasons--my relaxing vaca spot. I love the World and go as often as I can, but a beachy, lower key place nearer home sounds wonderful to me. I doubt I'd ever go in high season, but spring or fall would suit me to a tee. HHI sounds like just the ticket. I know there are myriad timeshares between where I live and the Hilton Head area, but I'm totally spoiled by the Disney way.

We bought 50 points at HHI before we took our first visit:rotfl:. I read everything about it and looked at every picture I could and knew that we'd love it. We have 100 points at AKV so our plan is to go to WDW two years in a row (using the same AP) and then use three years of HHI points to go in our "off" year. I was hoping to get 50-75 points via resale, but the contract never materialized. We ended up buying direct, which worked out great since we bought on January 22 and our UY is February:banana:. I was immediately allowed to bank the 2010 points so I had 100 points on Feb 1, 2011! I was able to use those 100 points for a F&W trip to BLT/BWV in October:yay:.

We took our first trip "home" in April 2011 and LOVED IT!!! I was so glad that we bought points there. DH even suggested selling our AKV points and buying more at HHI:lmao:.

We are planning our next trip to HHI for April 2013. We're hoping to bring my parents along, but we'll be a few HHI points short for a 2BR. They can't commit until the 7-month window anyways so we'll book our 1BR for us and then try to switch to a 2BR at the 7-month window.

That's what I'd be doing--buying before trying. That's a bit nuts, but it sure sounds nice. I may try for a resale, but if that doesn't pan out, I'll just call my person at DVC who sold me SSR.

We bought in 1998 while we were at Hilton Head. We bought 150 HHI points and 50 BWV points at that time. While we love the parks, we knew Hilton Head would be a more relaxing vacation. Our intention was to go to HHI 2 out of every 3 years and in the third year we would use three years worth of points to go to the parks.

We have really ended up vacationing more than that. We usually hit Disney about every 2 years and we go to Hilton Head most years. We have done this by vacationing at the parks in the off season. We have school aged children now, but we often find a little break in the school calendar that allows us to go to Disney in the off season when the points are cheaper without having to take the kids out of school. We also had a case of addonitis (Vero Beach) which also helps with the points. We just used mostly VB points to go to Disney in January for 5 nights when the kids had an odd little break and we stayed at AKL. My only regret is that I wouldn't mind having a few more park points to give us a bit more flexibility.
