at hard rock now

we have now stayed at all 3 universal resorts. hard rock is my least favorite. we left our room early this morning and came back at 4:30 and our room still wasn't cleaned. we asked for a rollaway the first night, after a few reminders, we finally called at 9:30 and said PLEASE send up our rollaway.
We have a lovely view of where the doggies go potty.
having said all of that, we are having a great time!!
we went to the luau at royal pacific last night, good show, great food.
i don't think the parks are overly crowded, it seems like the longest line times for people not staying onsite were only 30 to 45 minutes. way too much rain today, it finally quit tonight. the new roller coaster looks awesome, they were testing it last night but not tonight.
tomorrow we are crossing the border and going to blizzard beach. we have reservations for emerils tchoup chop tomorrow night.

Your room view is hit or miss within a catagory. At HRH I once got a lovely view of the top of the roof over the entrance of the hotel where people drop off their cars/luggage. I was club level.

Perhaps later room cleanings are due to the hotel placing priority on the rooms that are vacant so that they can get them cleaned and ready for guest changeover. Then, they work on the rooms of guest continuing their stay. I read complaints often about late room cleanings. Figured that was the reason.

Don't be worried about the HRH. We have stayed there for years now and have never had any problems. The view you get is subject to the catagory of room you book. We have had views all over the place and have never had a complaint. As for the room cleaning, we book connecting rooms and both rooms have always been cleaned early in the day and we have never come back to the room and had it not be ready. We are heading there in 5 weeks and don't anticipate anything being different from our previous visits.

Thank you for that...our family will be there for our first time Aug. 18-26. I was getting a bit nervous when I read about housekeeping.

i have had the same problem with housekeeping.
last year i noticed the decline with the services big time.

We also had this problem in May of this year, we stayed for 2 weeks. The first morning our room was cleaned whilst we were at breaksfast, then for the rest of the break at around 4-5PM. The hotel was empty during the second week of our stay, at one point we were out numbered by life guards around the pool! On the last day of our holiday we had late check out (3PM), but someone was there to clean the room early!? I did say to my husband parhaps it's because we weren't leaving a daily tip, so there wasn't a race to get the money! We left one big tip at the end of the two week period. Should we leave a tip daily in the future? I don't know, we had a much better experience at the Royal Pacific. Very sad! Overall though lovely hotel, and our daughter loved the pool.

I stayed at HRH for a week in April and didn't have any issues with the room being cleaned. Everytime we got back it was done.

We'll be there in a week !! I just can't wait to get outta here!!

I make our beds in the morning anyway (my parents made us when we went on vacation!) and pretty much just need the towels switched out. Hopefully we won't have a problem with that!

As for the view... doesn't bother me since there's no balcony to sit out on anyway, right?

That's the one complaint I have about the HRH. The rooms seemed cleaned on a random basis, the worst was the turndown service, somedays it'll be done, sometimes not at all. Once they tried to get in when we were asleep.

don't be bummed. you will have a great time. i should have mentioned that although it's not my favorite, it is now my daughter and husbands favorite. it's all about the location, you can't beat it.
the room cleaning has improved as the week has gone on.

i'm not real concerned with room location. don't plan on hanging out in my room. i will have fun no matter what i specifically chose hrh for the pool. DD loves her a slide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We love a balcony, but also know that we won't have one at Universal hotels (except for a few patios at PBH). Not a biggie, though. I love all 3 hotels there, have stayed at them all. And will take pretty much the best deal. This time, the best deal for us was a deluxe - but I have no clue what the view is.

hi erinch,
they put the rollaway against the far wall by the window. they moved the chair to the corner which made it impossible to walk on that side, it was that tight.
