At DL this week: where the wait times are made up and distancing doesn’t matter

For the home tests how do they work, just swab yourself and it will show a positive or neg? This would def make me feel better coming home and being able to test ourselves before going back to work or seeing anyone?

Yesterday we (ok well I) decided to book our flights for November. I was thinking last night that we would need to be extra cautious when we came home to ensure we were not sick and would not pass it onto anyone else. Testing would def make me feel more comfortable.
In our school district (Northern California, which is very covid-cautious with an 88% fully vaccinated (of eligibles) rate), they require a "modified quarantine" after out of state travel (or for other particular exposure scenarios), which is pretty sensible. The "modified quarantine" is the kids still attend school with their required masks but refrain from extracurriculars and unmasked social events, and on day 5 after returning, you get them a test. In your case, you could do the same -- wear your masks at all times around others until you clear a negative test 5 days after you return. The messaging has been that transmission between two masked people is uncommon -- so if you mask up and test on day 5, you are being very responsible about ensuring you don't pass along any unsavory viruses.

Thank you, that is great information. I really want to make this trip happen but need to make sure it is done as safely as possible. I wear a mask when out for groceries and work etc so that part has become a normal for us.

We are here now and we have not had a problem at all finding lots of empty tables at the quick service. If one is willing to wait at a sit down restaurant most have a 30 minute wait except Blue Bayou. That one is a couple of hours
We walked up to Blu Bayou last Saturday after getting off Pirates boat ride - my DS12 saw the restaurant from the ride and has bugging us to dine there. I said no way will they have availability (nothing showing up in the app for walk up) - well DS walked up to the host who said they have room right away - it was right at 5pm. They told us to stay close to the restaurant and they will text us. We got the text within 10 min, so definitely do try just walking up.

Hi everyone !

I wanted to wait to get my negative test results before updating you with my trip report. I have them now (big sigh of relief) so want to give you the real scoop.

We arrived Friday from YVR - spent Fri at downtown Disney. Saturday @ DL. Sunday we had a free day to chill. Mon, Tues back at DL and Wed at DCA (today).

Thank you! Can you tell me about the test at YVR? I have about an hour and a half layover from Victoria to SNA. Is that enough time to get the test prior to leaving the country? Or should I just suck it up and get one in town before I go? Maybe my family and I will get one in December if it's within our 3 3/4 hr layover time for Aulani (if they're a trusted partner for Hawai'i).

We ate at Carthay Circle and had a great experience indoors, as well as Docking Bay 7 (nobody was there!).

I have been trying for Carthay for over a week. Did you just walk up?

Hi everyone !

my DH and I go HARD. I mean 25+ rides a day open to close hard. We go every year and this is our favourite place in the entire world. So naturally I was extremely nervous given COVID and all the risk associated plus the logistics/cost/worry about testing and alternate plans etc. BUT to be honest it had been a horrible year for me and I decided for my birthday what would mean the most is being at DL. So we did it !

we got our rapid antigen tests from the YVR clinic before we left, and we went with Anaheim City Hall Covid Clinic 1 day PCR tests coming back. I will say city hall was perfect and easy, was a ~8 min Lyft ride and we got our results exactly 24 hours later. So that part was all gravy.

we are fully vaxxed and we wore double masks at all times unless sitting totally away from other guests outside or eating/drinking.

with ALL of that said....I didn’t feel safe. Ogas in particular I really do not reccomend. We were seated at a table with 3!!!! Other parties mere inches away from us unmasked drinking laughing and eating. I felt it was beyond irresponsible and we drank quickly and left. I felt totally exposed. There are many many rides where cast members actively tell you to fill all avail space and walk literally butt up to the people ahead of you. And the mask complaince is not it guys.

i would say 1/3 of guests wear masks outside and inside 1/3 do not wear their mask correctly or take it OFF when a CM is not looking. Like entire families blatantly de masking on rides. It was wild.

I also felt super weird about all the newborn crying babies around maskless people - there is no proof of vax needed nor do they temp check to get in. It’s truly a free for all, and it’s like Covid simply doesn’t exist.

i don’t want to scare you guys, but I really felt compelled to let you know there is inherent risk here and you have to be safe and take care of yourself in this enivironment. This is just how it is.

we still did the park as we usually would and we had a fantastic time - but those were the nagging thoughts in the back of my head.

happy to answer any and all questions ! I travel home Friday.

And suddently my sadness due to the cancellation of two trips (fall 2021) has disappeared.

I actually did the test 2 days before, it took ~40 mins end to end. I had free cancellation for my hotel for 48 hours prior, so timing was everything.

No I checked the app every single day for like 30 days trying to get a reso before one finally popped up for like 4:30pm lol
