At BWV right now with a new pool thermometer-you wont believe it!

Luna was exactly 86 degrees today, it has been 80's and sunny for a week but we brought a brand new floating pool thermometer and it was 86 floating, 84 in my pocket (down about 2 feet) and 86 at the bottom of the pool if held down with my foot-maybe the sun hitting the bottom helped? Regardless it felt slightly cool when we hopped in after the hot sun was on us, but in a few minutes it was very nice.

I'm relieved to hear this! There were reports from last week that some of the pools were still quite cool. Where did you get the pool thermometer and how much do they cost? I'm tempted to get one for our trip next January.

I was at the BW pools last week, left on Saturday, and the pools were still cold then. I was so frustrated, that I crashed the pool at Marriott Cypress Harbour in an effort to find warm swimming water! I am glad to hear that perhaps the water is finally warmer. This trip was the first time ever that I regretted buying DVC points.

I am pretty picky (whimpy?) about the pool temps and cant believe WDW has done this. Its not I cant stand it, I just prefer it warm. It still did not seem as warm as I remember but seriously it was quite comfortable in minutes. It may have just warmed up in the warm sun this last week-which means a cooler spell may leave it less than desireable. I think keeping an open concern/conversation with Disney would be benefical for next winter.

86 degrees is the temperature that everyone was hoping - and fighting - for.

Could be something to that, I can say when its 88 degrees and sunny (like yesterday) its usually when we visit in the summer-at that time the pools are much warmer than 86 degrees. Pretty cretain thats why it took some time to get used to even at 86-you do not have to get used to it in the summer-I guarantee it. I will check the pool when we are here this August to verify.

Now if they are 86 degrees in Feb when its 40 at night and maybe 60 for a high-you will feel that the pool is much warmer than if its 78 IMO.

I think it has more to do with solar heating that the pool is 86 degrees. And you did say after the hot sun was on you, the water felt cool, so that makes perfect sense. When it is hot out, you want the water temp to cool you, when it is cold out, you want the water to warm you.

I agree, that we should be diligent heading into the cooler months regarding pool temps. I too felt regret about purchasing because of this issue but I am willing to give it a go.

3. around the pool area, is carrying a pool thermometer

But seriously, thanks so much for this report. I know Disney said they were going to increase the pool temperature, but I didn't believe it-NOW I do.

We were at VWL 3/24 - 3/26 and while the air temp was only in the upper 60's, my dds still went swimming and didn't complain. We were at BWV 3/31 - 4/2 and DH said the water was in the upper 80's. Air temp was around 80.

Remember, the complaints were about the pools being at 82 degrees. Not only this a comfortable temperature, it is the temperature at the top edge of those recommended for multi-use, multi-age pools. The problem is that people insist on swimming when it is sunny, regardless of the temperature. My parents are having the same problem at their winter home on the gulf side of Florida--people complaining that the pool is 82 degrees. IMHO, if you want a bath, take a bath. If you want to swim, swim.

Luna was right at 88 today up 2 degrees -checked over a few hour period. It was 90 outside and the pool was actually perfect.

We are in Atlanta and our pool hasn't reached 80 degrees yet. Hasn't stopped the kids though, they were swimming two weeks ago and the pool was 74 degrees.

I am not comfortable until it hits the high 80's. I guess I need to go to FL.
