ASMu to Boardwalk Area?

We are planning an evening at the Boardwalk this August. Dinner at ESPN or Big River, ice cream at Beaches and Cream then Illuminations at EPCOT. We don't really plan on touring EPCOT that night. We have a rental car.
Could we have some help with the following possibilities?

1. Should we drive to EPCOT and walk to the Boardwalk?

2. Should we drive to the Boardwalk and park there? Are we allowed or would we have to pay? Where would we park?

3. Other suggestions?

You can park there. I would suggest valet parking...about $12 plus tip, but it's worth it. There is a 'public' lot across the street from BW, behind the Hess Station, but it's a hike to the resort. And there is guest parking, across from the bus stop, but it's for guests. I suppose that if it isn't crowded at BW, you may be able to park in the guest lot.

Take the bus (or drive) to DTD or any of the parks and take the bus to Boardwalk. Or even better, take the bus (or drive) to DHS and take the boat to Boardwalk.

DON'T take the bus or park at Epcot, as you'll have to run through the entire park to the world showcase exit to get to Boardwalk. DHS is much closer.

Your best bet is to take the bus to DHS and get the boat. You can save time by getting off at the first boat stop--the Swan/Dolphin-- and walking across the bridge to the Boardwalk. The boat then goes to the Yacht/Beach Club and finally the Boardwalk. You will beat it walking.
I am not sure though how late the boats run--it is usually 1-2 hours after park close, so keep this in mind for your return to AsMu.
