The Pepsi corporation has a new superbowl commercial that is "silent"- it is completely signed. The Listenup.org listserve I am on had an early link to it and it is quite funny:

The story from MSNBC better describes how the commercial came to be:

As the parent of a child, DD10, with moderate bilateral hearing loss, this brought tears to my eyes- and quite a giggle! I thought some of you might get a kick out of it, too (and besides, if I can watch the commercials early on youtube I don't have to suffer watching the game with DH and the boys!)

Thanks for sharing.
That is one of the funniest commercials ever.

I am going to move this to the disABILITIES Community Board, since that board is more for non-Disney related subjects.

Woohoo! It's right on! I loved it!!

Thanks for sharing! I'm gonna share with my Deaf friends and interpreters I know!

I seem to be doing this regularly, but OT.... did any one see Marlee Matlin at the Candlelight Processional a couple of years ago? AWESOME performance.

I love the play on the old deaf joke. REally great ad. My husband and I were in stitches over it.
I have seen Marlee Matlin several times and really enjoy her performance. I also love the way she watches the interpreter during the music. She gives them her full attention.

Yes, our family saw her in December 2005. I was so mesmerized by both her and the interpreter, whose name escapes me now. I know that Talking Hands knows her name though. My husband put his arm around me as I sat there with my mouth hanging open and said, "Honey, I love you." It was his way of saying that he understood my utter bliss at this opportunity.
