I have been reading alot of thread latley that people feel like their meals are being rushed at the TS location. Has anyone ever asked for the waiter/waitress to slow down there meal and wait to bring out their main course after they finished their appy. I just happen to wonder because last year we were on the dinning plan and never felt rushed at all,but it seems this yr that its a big complaint.Just wonder if anyone has said anything to there server and what response they have gotten.

We've eaten a lot of TS meals, both on DDP and without DDP, and we've never felt rushed. There have been a few times where we've asked the server to pick up the pace a little bit, but we've never felt like anyone was hustling us out the door.

If we did feel pressured, I certainly wouldn't come here and post a complaint. I'd just be a big kid and tell the server we don't want to be rushed. What's the hard part? :confused3

The only time we've ever mentioned anything about taking it slow was at California Grill one night. We were tired and really wanted to just relax and enjoy the meal, so we told the server right at the start of looking at the menu that we were in no hurry. He said no problem and the meal proceeded very smoothly, but at a leisurely pace.

You'll hear all sorts of whining about DDP -- or any other discount plan -- but most of the time, we find those complaints don't match our experiences.

The easiest way to slow down a meal is the following:

When your server first arrives, order only drinks, when the server returns with the drinks order only the appetizers, then tell them you need more time to decide on an entree. When the appetizer arrives, THEN order your entree, then when you have finished your entree, order desert.

We told our server at Ohana last month to slow it down when he arrived with the meat less than 5 minutes after the chips, salad, shrimp and wings arrived. (yes those were all at once)

I haven't had an experience like that in a Disney restaurant, but I had it here in Miami once. I just told the server to take the entree back.

She said it might get cold...or it might get dried out under the warming lights. I said, no problem -- we'll send it back again until it's right.

I don't know what she did with the food she originally brought, but when she brought our entree at the proper time, it was hot and perfectly cooked. The service was good throughout the meal, and we left a good tip...which she deserved.

Maybe I have things backwards, but I've always thought the guest was the boss, and I don't understand why guests put up with shoddy treatment by the 1% of servers who act this way. :confused3

The only time I felt rushed was at the Concouse Steakhouse last year during free dining. The waitress came and asked for our drink, appetizer, entree and dessert choices on her 1st visit. We gave them to her and then different people brought out our food throughout the meal, we hardly saw her. We weren't really rushed to finish each course I just hated not seeing the waitress and having to choose my dessert before I even had my drink! It made me feel like a 2nd class citizen because I was on DDP. That was the only time we felt that way. Looking back I should have told her we weren't ready to place our dessert order yet but I was just so shocked I didn't have time to think! I agree with the ordering 1 course at a time method if you are afraid of being rushed.

When we were at Ohana's in Jan. the wonderful waiter asked us how we would like the meal paced?? That was sooo great. We were in no hurry and he said that was fine!! We have mentioned our pacing wants and needs at WDW resturants and never had a problem. Only at Alfredo's did they ask us to order all and once and we just said we were not ready to order anything but our starters and that was fine. Speak up about your needs and you should be fine. We have gotten nothing but great service in the DDP.

After we spoke with him, the rest of our meal went so smoothly we left him an extra $10.

This happened to us during free ddp in September 2005. I've used the ddp at Concourse many times since then and it's never happened again. We will be back there in a couple of weeks with a group of 11 so will see. We usually have good service here, but didn't like the ordering of everything at one time, like an earlier visit.

Do you guys mean when you are on DDP you have to order your full meal all at once? I was going to suggest not ordering you entree at the same time as your appetizer.

Has anyone TRIED not ordering it all at once even when told you must? Isn't the customer in charge? I try to make it clear to my server that I tip VERY well for exceptional service, and so-so for so-so service. I rarely get poor service. Some may think it classless to talk $$ at the beginning of a meal, but I want what I want.

I fully intend to nicely ask the server to slow down if we are feeling rushed. I'm not sure really how it will be taken, but it's our meal, I want to enjoy it!!:goodvibes

Maybe it's just me, but I much prefer that my food come out quickly so I can leave the restaurant as soon as possible. There are a lot of other things I'd rather be doing than sitting in a restaurant waiting for my food to be served. I wouldn't want the main dish to be brought with the apps, but soon after wouldn't bother me one bit.
