I have a lot of nieces and nephews - I am from a big family and most of us have kids. I am asking for good wishes and prayers for my niece Hillary. Hill is a terrific young woman - graduated with honors from Temple University, turned her senior internship into a well-paying managerial position with a popular restraunt chain, bought her own house before she was 25, part time model, extremely friendly and helpful with a great volunteer spirit.

My sister P called last night. Hill was in minor car accident just before Christmas and hit her head - just a bump, really - but the docs did an MRI to make sure there was no damage. Instead they found a tumor in the right frontal lobe. That is the bad news.

The good parts: my oldest sister, L, is married to a very talented and renowned oncologist. He put Hill in touch with a friend of his, probably the best doctor in the Philly area (if not the country) for this kind of situation. The doc believes they discovered this early, and the tumor is small. Hill has opted for surgery, although it has not been scheduled yet. We will know more next week.

The last 12 months have been pretty rough for my family. Mom's health has declined and she is slipping deeper into dementia, we lost our beloved Uncle to a heart attack last March, a niece involved in a very ugly divorce from an abusive husband, the middle of my five sisters is dealing with leukemia, and now the youngest of my sisters is dealing with her oldest child having a brain tumor.

So, if you've got any to spare, please send some positive thoughts, prayers and energy my family's way. Thanks in advance.

I'll pray that they can remove the tumor and that it is benign.

Wow, that minor accident could have saved her life!

You've got it :thumbsup2! Sorry to hear about your families health problems and know the toll it can take.
Sending prayers, positive thoughts and {{hugs}} from MD that things look up for all concerned, specially that your niece has a successful surgery and full recovery. :grouphug:

Prayers said...wishing your niece a speedy recovery and healing ahead.
Wishing better days all around:hug:

It sounds to me like that accident was no accident...it was meant to happen so this could be found early....praying for a complete recovery for her. My mom fell and had to see her dr. in 1997. He reprimanded her for being overdue for an echocardiogram. He had tech do one right then and there. Turned out her aortic valve was so bad she would not have lived another month without surgery...I told her guardian angel pushed her.

Thoughts and prayers for your neice. Wishing her all the best.

Please know that there are many people keeping your whole family in our thoughts and prayers

First of all, thank you all for the kind wishes and messages. My niece is having her surgery this Friday and I am hoping I can get the day off to head to Philly to be with my sister and brother-in-law.

So, again, please keep your fingers crossed and keep a positive thought.

Thanks again.

Update: She had the surgery today. We won't have the pathology of the tumor for a while, but the good news is that my niece was able to answer all the questions the docs asked, and she was able to move her fingers/toes/feet/legs/hands/etc. She will have a follow up MRI tomorrow.
My sister and brother-in-law are emotionally and physically exhausted, but there is still the reocvery. The whole family is breathing a little easier tonight.

Thank you again for the good thoughts and prayers.

Thanks so much for the update and especially for the good news :goodvibes Sending more prayers for good pathology reports

I am adding your family to my prayer list. How heavy a heart and scary. I am so glad to hear the good news to responding, that is the first step to healing. May all the days to come be better as she takes each one.
Di
