Asking all you road warriors - a good Exit Guide for 81-77??

Hi folks,

I asked this on the transportation board and didn't get an answer then I realized that the best people to ask would be the campers, of course

We're driving from PA via the 81-77-26-95 route. We usually take 95 and have a great Exit Guide to follow. I want the same thing for our new route and haven't found anything to purchase on-line, just generic "all interstates" guides which are too big and expensive.

Do you know anything that we could use? We want one that lists mileage, rest stops, gas stations and food. If we have to use one that is for all interstates, what would you recommend?

Just noticed your post. I use "EXIT NOW" since it is arranged by Interstate and not by State. Much better than "NEXT EXIT". You don't have to flip the pages. Also, it shows all facilities that are RV friendly in red. I have never seen an individual Interstate guide.

I've been using the next exit, but I hear that the Trailer Life trip planning thing is pretty good.

On this last trip south (working on the TR soon) we found ourselves out of gas stuck in traffic on I-95 in southwest CT in the Stamford area. We pulled into the official rest stop which was packed tight as a sardine can because of the crawling traffic (5 miles in 3 hours ). Because we had the trailer in tow I went the route for trucks and buses because I knew the area for cars was too congested and would not fit the trailer. Guess what? The truck area bypasses all the gas pumps and leaves you with a single diesel pump with no way to get back to the gas pumps!

We hopped off at the next exit with the low fuel warning light alarming, still stuck in afternoon traffic and all the gas stations were on the opposite side of this divided secondary road! No way to maneuver over to them for a long way. We kept driving until I saw a shopping plaza at an intersection that looked large enough for us to turn around in, and pulled in. Bad move, it was full of those landscaped islands with tight turning radius's and I spent a few minutes trying to get every inch I could to make the final turn back out onto the road; was almost there so that the trailer tires would just make it by a curb and the truck would still not hit the next island when some brain damaged woman in a Mercedes pulled in behind the trailer and started hitting the horn. Boy was I tempted to park it and go fix dinner right there. Instead, had to just take a deep breath and drag those trailer tires over the curb. We finally made it through to the opposite side of this divided road at the traffic light, got gas and headed back to the highway to find there was no entrance to get back on (and this was not mentioned in "The Next Exit").
