I've posted similar to this in the past, it still seems to say my thoughts.....
So much has happened over the past year, for us, for others.
Here on the DIS, Marlasmom passed away back in July. And our friend julie_yet (Julie), not quite 29 years old, passed away in January (thread here). So very young, so dearly missed. And we certainly do miss many who are no longer here on the DIS, for many and various reasons.
That sadness is tempered as we welcomed many new DIS babies along the way, new DIS brides and grooms, new DIS members to this little loony place on the Net.
Personally here, Vince and Katlyn welcomed their little son, Marie's and my second grandson, Keegan, into the world back in July,
And Natalie and Ken welcomed their second son, Jeremy's little brother and our third grandson, Christopher, into the world back in September. The three of them bring much joy and many smiles to both Marie and me.
And Marie this year has gone past the 11 year mark in remission.
Me? After a brief visit to the ER and several day stay in the hospital back in March, I seem to be doing okay.
I am just another year older, not too bad at my age.
And I did get back to Disney World, earlier this month, after close to a two year hiatus.
It's been a rough and tough year with the economy and world situation for sure, and hopefully 2010 will see improvements all around.
As the year runs short of hours here, I would like to wish everyone here, and elsewhere, a very Happy, Healthy, Blessed and Good New Year.
(From my note in the past, pretty much word for word)……
Many of us become friends over the years here, having met in this crazy world we call.....online; and have become cyber friends, buddies, online friends. And, many of us have, over time, actually met up in real life and become real-life friends. It is a nice community, in spite of many of its shortcomings. And Lord knows it has many.
Sure, there are arguments, name-calling, disagreements, what-have-you, but generally, in the end, friends. Hopefully, all can be friends in 2010, making for an even better community. Pixie dust maybe, but hey, who knows? It would be great to see many who no longer can be here to again share here.
I heard this song again this year this morning, on WGN talk radio (just did again, as it is an annual song on their show), thought it had some good things to say, some true things. Yeah, it's by that sort of cheesy group, ABBA (I really do like some of their music and sound), but still, give a listen, read the lyrics, I found they can ring true......................
………..I like to think good things, good things that have been, good things that could be.
Anyway, enough of all that.............
Happy New Year, guys.
Those thoughts still ring true.
Dan
PS: It is so nice to see those who have returned over this past, 2009, year too, would love to see others in 2010.
Some I dearly miss.

The Way Old Friends Do
(click for sound)
You and I can share the silence
Finding comfort together
The way old friends do
And after fights and words of violence
We make up with each other
The way old friends do
Times of joy and times of sorrow
We will always see it through
Oh I don't care what comes tomorrow
We can face it together
The way old friends do
You and I can share the silence
Finding comfort together
The way old friends do
And after fights and words of violence
We make up with each other
The way old friends do
Times of joy and times of sorrow
We will always see it through
Oh I don't care what comes tomorrow
We can face it together
The way old friends do
We can face it together
The way old friends do
