I posted this on the cruise board..my heart is just breaking, the worst thing ever, I can not even imagine.

I'm not saying they didn't have smoke detectors in this instance at all---but this is a good reminder- please please please make sure you have them, and make sure they work-go right now and check them.
Here in town where my DH is a firefighter, about 14 years ago there was a family: Mom, Dad and 5 boys.
They were building an addition and took down their smoke detectors because the dust from construction kept setting them off-there was a fire one night, the mother and all 5 children died.

If you can't afford smoke detectors, call your local FD, we give them out for free to those who need them.

also, please know that with smoke detectors, check the batteries, and please, do a test run - have a plan... try the smoke detector after your kids have been asleep for an hour, sometimes they cant hear that obnoxious beep... we went a step further after learning our kids slept thru alarms!!

Oh my God!

I can't fathom the pain, the devastation...... Emma'sGrammy has been so wonderful to me - I am shattered by the realization that there is nothing I can do to ease her pain. The only thing she can hold onto is the knowledge that her daughter and grandbaby are in heaven and they went to heaven in each other's arms.

May God be with you and help you all work through this pain.

Words are just inadequate at this time...God bless Lynda and Mike and David and the rest of the family...I know that little Sophie will now have two very special angels looking down on her and taking very special care of her. Prayers go out to the family at this horrible time.

There is a memorial fund set up for little Sophie...not sure of the exact address but it is listed on the cruise meet forum in case anyone wants to contribute even a dollar.

I for one will hug my 14 year old DD (even though she cringes at getting hugged) a little harder tonight because only God knows if we will live to see tomorrow with our loved ones. This tragedy certainly puts all small items in perspective. Prayers being sent to Ellwood City.
