As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

In my continuing effort to make sure my list of choices is accurate, I thought I'd once again ask a little advice. If you were going to choose a club level room based on the lounge what would you choose?

My top 3 so far:
a-The Yacht Club (cause its close to Epcot and it would be late April and the F&G festival)

b-GF Sugarloaf (cause from what I understand it has afternoon tea, and champagne served at dinner (so I'm told)

c-The Polynesian (is number 3 only if the lobby and pool are likely to be open)
if not c would be The Boardwalk (club level, and for same reason as the Yacht Club)
After this I'm open to pretty much any cl except RPC (which will likely be out of my price range even with a discount LOL

All I have to do now is wait until October and hope I can get a bounceback offer to one of those. If not, I have a second list just in case. Hope you all don't mind me rambling on cause first of all I have fun planning my trip to Disney, and second, it takes time to make up my mind about where I'm going to stay lol.

My fav lounge is poly! Food fav is gf but cr has a nice mix of view, space and food and we enjoyed that too. We don't care for boardwalk area so I have not stayed CL there yet. I would like to try boardwalk CL based on people's reports and I enjoyed YC but BC not as nice to me as YC. I love balconies !

Poly GV CL I have gotten some decent rates on. To me a great value for the price.:thumbsup2

Sue is close....

Dd had a request earlier this year that was "obliterated" by her dad and bro crashing the party.

Remember now???

Dd has only one possible upgrade I have 2.

Who the heck goes from POP to RPC???

Dh says that I need to keep checking. However POP with dd will be fun indeed. She wants 80's with PacMan and lake view.

VGF???

:goodvibes thanks everyone for the condolences for my trip or lack of!! $1000 later in 4 new tires :faint: ugh. Don't need that expense 2.5 weeks before we leave for Florida!
On the bright side because I was home, I got to have a Dis meet with someone from the YC/BC board, who was in town for a convention. We went to the Canadian version of Sorin! Fly over Canada!!

I'm glad you were able to make something good come out of a bad situation. $1,000?:scared1: I'm thinking we paid between $6-700 for our tires, but we got a refund for like $150 from the car dealership.

I have another question for y'all....
I want to make sure to use fabric markers on the t-shirt, which I got in the mail today. I can't find any chunky fabric Sharpies. Do you think it will work, if I take duct tape and wrap it around the Sharpie until it's the thickness of one of the chunky Sharpies?

DH has an SUV, and tires are big, and wide too. So guess that's why they cost$$$.
Maybe a chunky permenant marker would be ok? But I guess you could make the skinny sharpie thicker, maybe to add some thickness wrap it with some gauze bandage then Duct tape?

Closer.....after our family time at VGF, Lys and I transferred to Cr atrium CL MKV but the guys flight canceled so they came back to cr and we moved to the hospitality suite($$$$:faint: we were not planning on THAT but no other options were available)

So Lys wants a tower MKV at CR, I would do that or a GV at gf if passholder shows up. However I think in August heat POP will work. We will be right next to Computer pool which is deep and quiet :goodvibes ! We like the PacMan rooms so we asked for 80's.

I have not used sharpies on my shirts before. I use paint. Sorry, I just don't know! :scratchin

Making anything fun??

A junior bride's maid for a friend's wedding found out this Summer she has Leukemia. Her family is selling t-shirts to help raise money for expenses. I bought a t-shirt, so I can get the characters to sign it on my December trip. Then I'll turn it into a pillow and send to her. When the characters sign it, I'll take their pictures with it. Then turn the pictures into an album that I will send with the pillow.

My friend said that the girl's latest round of blood work show she's already in remission.

No rambling...planning, I love it!!! YC has the best location, the lounge is smaller than GF SL. Honestly you can't go wrong with either. Poly lounge has a beautiful view, however I was less than impressed with their CL staff..in comparison to WL YC and GF CL...JMHO The offerings themselves....GF SL ranks first, then Poly, then YC. The discounted room that will be cheapest will be YC SV CL:goodvibes
Hello all from the Rocky Mtn region! Been scooting around the mountains and reception is hit-or-miss. So far behind but wanted to send a blue YAY to MM!

Hoping to catch up tonight when I can finally sit and chill! *hugs to all*

Nice!!!! :yay: There's always something before vacation, hope THIS IS IT!!!:wizard:

Happy Monday Morning :surfweb: (I'm still half asleep)

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!!

Sue.... sorry about those tires :sad2: I'm not shocked in the least. Those suckers can be expensive. I'm dreading the day we need them on ours! At least you have Disney to look forward to :yay:

Pas...no changes, right? You're still with the villa? Just my two cents (and I've told you this before) but a villa is perfect for your family. All that extra room will make for a happy family.....especially OKW....they're the biggest.

wookie.... That's great news about the remission!:goodvibes And you're very thoughtful and creative coming up with the character pillow.

dimn.... :wave2: back at ya! Hope y'all are enjoying the mountains!

trish......so let me get this right. You're going from Pop to RPC???? I like it! But then you changed?? I'm lost. Can you tell I haven't been keeping up :rolleyes1

Magic.... glad I was your comic relief for the day ;)

traveller.... :scratchin ya know, what someone likes is always so subjective. But I'll throw this out there anyway  We've only done 3 CL stays. The Poly has to have the best view hands down! However, the food at the WL has been our favorite followed by AKL. While the YC might be a great location, I haven't heard great things about the lounge itself....very small in comparison to the others. But if you need to be close to EP, it's obviously the closest. Choices??! Too many!

Hope everyone has a Magical Day!!!! :goodvibes

Always lovely to wake to a good Heather photo! :goodvibes

DH brought up the suitcases this weekend. We went and purchased all of our toiletries. Our magicbands have been shipped....26 more days till Disney!!! We can't wait to get back!! :cool1:

Wookie, what a nice thing to do:thumbsup2

Heather, always love waking up your pics! I had asked earlier this week if I did change, any guesses? That was the change I did mid-trip in January. Right now I am still POP/gf.

Dd would like cr MKV only, otherwise wants POP. We did book CG for 5:30 on arrival day:thumbsup2

Looks like lots of us are heading to the kingdom this August. :cool1:
I won't pack til last minute because summer weather, I need my clothes. However for summer I write down the outfits I want so I don't forget any favorites.

My dollar store no longer sells 2pack ponchos. Now I have to pay $1 a piece to ride SM:rotfl2:

Inflation hits the poncho market! :rotfl:

Disney has certainly made me work to add days to our bounceback. This morning I finally got the last one date I wanted to add. Still a split, but better deal overall. :thumbsup2

Have a good day everybody!

A 2 hour window??!! :scared1::faint: You make me nervous  I really need to be more like you....life would probably be less stressful for me.

So Pop first then GF, right? Sounds like a winner!! Don't blame your DD for wanting the CR...I love it there. So nostalgic for me. I'm sure it's going to be a fabulous trip. I could just sit in the GF lobby and relax for hours, especially when the piano is being played.

How many days are y'all there?? I like your split! One day I'm going to get brave and do the EP resorts :upsidedow I could do an EP/MK split, right!!?? ;)

Things are quiet here today. Faith is at church camp, Jesse is spending the night with my aunt, and Stephen is doing who knows what upstairs  And it's cloudy outside, and relatively cool for south Georgia. Life is good. I probably need to take advantage of the peacefulness and be productive. ....or maybe not...

I think being pregnant having the lounge will be nice for you and your family too!

Funny you have a packing window. Once I booked on a Friday to leave at 4am the next day. I had to pack for me and ds. Dd did her own but still, I was worried I was forgetting something:eek:

Do you just book anything than can change days and resort later to get bounce back? With all my trips I have never used the offer. Any advice would be great.

I am enjoying spending time with my kids. I am working shorter hours over the summer while there are people home to be with. School will be staring soon enough. Sometimes you just need to enjoy TODAY:cloud9:

:dance3: This is great news Kim!!!!

I was really happy for her. Hopefully, she'll get to come back to Texas soon. She has been in California while getting treatment.

Happy Monday Morning :surfweb: (I'm still half asleep)

I just love your pictures!!

wookie.... That's great news about the remission!:goodvibes And you're very thoughtful and creative coming up with the character pillow.

I was very happy for her family for her to be in remission so quickly.
Thank you. I actually got the idea from my youngest. He made me a pillow from a t-shirts in class (it's basically home economics, they just don't call it that).

I won't pack til last minute because summer weather, I need my clothes. However for summer I write down the outfits I want so I don't forget any favorites.

I usually buy all new socks for everyone, undies for the boys, t-shirts for me, and toiletries for all of us. I usually have that all packed a minimum of a month before our trip. Then I pack everything else the week of the trip.

My dollar store no longer sells 2pack ponchos. Now I have to pay $1 a piece to ride SM:rotfl2:

We don't even bother with ponchos. I just put the camera in the camera bag that is in the backpack and keep going.

No changes  We are ready to roll. My packing window is scheduled (Aug. 15 7-9am) ;) Our road trip itinerary is a work in progress, but I am getting there!!!

We made an itinerary like that for our last road trip. When you're doing just over 5,000 miles in just 11 days, you kind of need to though.

Things are quiet here today. Faith is at church camp, Jesse is spending the night with my aunt, and Stephen is doing who knows what upstairs  And it's cloudy outside, and relatively cool for south Georgia. I hope you're enjoying your quiet day.

Hello RCers! Hoping for some help in NOT RC-ing! Just saw an amazing AP rate at ASMu and relatively reasonable fares for a last-minute trip . . . so I'm arriving at WDW with the kids in less than three weeks! I haven't stayed value in 20 years - the kids never have. We're going to Europe in late August, and doing AKL/GF/BWI in January for 9 nights, so there is NO changing this resort reservation. This last-minute trip is entirely based on the fact that the AP rate for ASMu is $67/night - crazy!

The boys are so excited - thrilled to be going and to have everything be so spontaneous. I may have ADRs for 10 days straight in January, but we're going to try to wing it in August!

So the great thing about this thread is that RCers have stayed at so many different resorts. Any happy thoughts to share about a return to the values?

(Just realized I'm exactly like trish - except without the GF RPC at the end!!!)

Ok, looking ahead to 2015....

We are going to book our April trip (baby's 1st trip!!!!) next week when the rates are released.

We definitely want a monorail resort for the larger rooms (will have crib or pack n play) and easy access to MK and Epcot.

Torn between CR and POLY, both would be CL. Really want Poly, but concerned that the pool won't be done in time (supposed to be done end of March, but if there's a delay.....?)

DH thinks we should book CR to secure that, and then switch to Poly later if pool will be done....thoughts???

We've never travelled to Disney with an infant...we waited until the girls were 3 and 5 for their 1st trip, but we are excited for the adventure!! :cool1:

Advice?? :surfweb:

Hi Mousemommy!! We've stayed CL at both CR and Poly and loved them both. But I'm with you - Poly is my favorite of the two. So hard to know with the resort construction, but I'd probably take the risk and book Poly and then try make the switch if it looks like the construction is behind schedule. I've been in situations where I've wanted to book CL at Poly and it's not available, so I'd want to secure that.

Me too, I'm not packing till a few days before, being summer clothes that I'm still in, lol. Plus if I start throwing things in suitcases now, I'll forget what I've packed and have to take it all out to look :faint: I am throwing in my Rubbermaid Disney box stuff that I'll want to pack, sunscreen, waterproof cases, ponchos, etc.
