As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Hooray for the countdown! Won't be long until you're enjoying those beautiful gardens, the butterflies, and of course, the snack room! :dance3:
Wanna come Ginny  ???? Oooh butterflies, how could I forget??

It's Spring! YAY Summer discounts are out DOUBLE YAY! I did price out WL CL for August but I'm sticking with BC, partly because I'm outvoted LOL. Pixar you're almost there!!

Some changes....I added on 3 nights at Universal to our trip at HRH CL, I now have WDW and Universal APs!!!

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd, in 40 days I will be at YC CL enjoying my first F&G with my DD10, DD8, DD7, and DS6 with some DISmeets in the making!

This is SO exciting, Pas! We love F&G. Our youngest is really looking forward to the Monsters Inc. playground, which is much-loved and much-needed. Nothing like a huge playground on the edge of World Showcase for a sensory break . . . . especially with rum dole whips in such close proximity!

Just two days until we arrive at Pop, then WL CL, then beach, then BC CL. :) If anyone has any questions, please let us know!

As an update to my going back and forth between keeping Poly and switching to POR, with the discounts that came out today, we decided to keep Poly! It was a deal too good to pass up. I'm now SUPER excited for our June 29 - July 5 trip!

Well folks.... we made yet another switch! We're now staying at the Beach Club! It was where we would rather be. I'm excited to have the convenience to Epcot!!

This is the 5th resort we've been booked for this vacation. I'm feeling slightly kooky! Even the reservation rep laughed about it. (Do they keep track of that kind of stuff?)

I loved our Universal trip last year. We did 3 nights too, Last time we were there, Harry Potter Higsmeade was still being built. The theming and attractions just blew me away! Talk about immersion!!

KONNICHIWA!
So sorry it's been so long! The move was long, and we are just now getting settled into housing. I am going to try to catch up some (at least for the last few weeks) but I wanted to say hello to the RCers.
Japan has been amazing and totally not what I expected (we are in a rural area and the mountains and blue water are just breathtaking!) *HUGS* to everyone and I promise to touch base more often now that we can!!!

:dogdance::wave: Hi! Good to hear from you.

I'm not sure if they keep track, but I'm with you on the kooky. :) For Easter Weekend, we were VWL, CBR, BC, CR garden wing, Poly, CR tower, CR CL and then finally settled on BC CL. At least those are the ones I can remember - I just could not decide on that one. I think a little about Poly because they might be wrapping up Lava Pool construction. But even if the Lava Pool is complete, other construction areas remain and with the pool and Trader Sam's newly opened, Easter Weekend might be a bit of a zoo. And we just stayed there in January. So we decided to make it an Epcot/DHS weekend, avoid buses and enjoy BC. :)

SO if we do add a night to our trip (before or after Poly Studio - not sure on the exact scenario), what resort to choose? We will have to catch ME early morning for our 9:30am flight if we add a night at the end, so I was thinking either CBR or CSR in that case. Maybe go to a park for a bit (HS SWW or AK?) and then call it an early night, just swim and have dinner, etc. OR if we add to the beginning, I was thinking AKL so we could pop over to AK in the am for a couple rides and/or breakfast at Boma before checking in at the Poly and hitting HS for a few hours for SWW.

Koh, we stayed at AKL before GF/Poly in January and love a one-night AKL stay! I'll always add to the beginning of a trip instead of the end!

So at AKL for this most recent trip, we stayed CL. So we had CL appetizers in the evening, dinner at Boma and then settled in for the night. (Won't do CL/Boma again - prefer Jiko anyway and the Boma/CL combo wasn't a good value.) The next morning, CL breakfast, sent the luggage with Bell Services and then took the quick bus ride over to AK. After our AK day, headed directly to GF for check-in. Our boys loved it and they said AK is so much more fun when paired with an overnight at AKL!

Another option is actually adding one night on either end of the trip…So we can get the cheap flight down and use miles for the return trip…Hmmm…

AKL is definitely on our list. DH really wants to stay there so I'm thinking about our 5 year anniversary next year. It seems like a really romantic place and we would really enjoy the ambiance I think.

Great to hear from you dimndgal :)

So everyone is aware, they DO keep track, and we all have "files" ;)

Contemplating a ch-ch-change to RPC, DH is agreeable. The kids not so much oh well....

Ahhh! The funny thing about that is when I was on the phone with them yesterday, I guess I had previously talked to the same CM when we switched from Pop to WL. She says, "Boy, is this your last switch?" I couldn't help but laugh. I guess I have a giant warning on our reservation that we cannot commit to anything. ;)

But I don't think we'll switch again. We have a garden/courtyard view room and I'm just so pumped to stay there! :)

Thank you! I will keep pushing for Wilderness! I will be back, I'm sure! I am the sole planner for the group of 10, and the one who cares most, too!

I was the sole 'fanatic' of a group of 12 at Christmas and after hemming and hawing with DH about which mod to pick, he finally said to go with the one I wanted because I cared the most. We picked CSR and everyone loved it... mostly because I seemed happy with it. I think you'll find the same by going with WL - beautiful resort and if you're happy it will help feed into the group's enthusiasm.

Well, in looking at some things, we can actually fly down and drive back for cheaper than driving both ways. One option is using miles for 2 of us and paying OOP for the other 2, getting in at 2:30 on Saturday. The other option is flying in Friday night and staying somewhere onsite that night, then checking in to the Poly 1st thing Saturday morning (maybe breakfast at Kona?)

LOVED Kona for breakfast! Great way to start a trip!!!

I have a new item I can't make up my mind on (room and adr are ok). Can't decide if I want to try out Memory maker or not. Never used it before. It is quite a bit but I don't take good photos lol. I will be having breakfast with Darth Vader during my trip as well which comes with a photo or so I've read. If I get it, then I'm assuming that any photo taken on a ride would be included? How far in advance do you have to buy to get the advance purchase rate, and what would be the latest?

We have always loved Memory Maker (or the old Photopass CDs). It's great to be in the photos with your family and some of the magic shots are priceless. This last trip with our huge group we ended up with over 400 photos and the ride photos and videos alone were worth the money!!!

DOUBLE APs! THat's awesome!!! I am so jealous about YC CL! And F&G is such a gorgeous time at the parks (great weather, great scenery, great fun!)

You will love BC and the proximity to WS and HS for breaks. One reason YC is still our fave - great pool, love the Boardwalk for a stroll, and love stepping to the room to cool off.

:dogdance::wave: Hi! Good to hear from you.

:dogdance: Happy puppy!

Great to hear from you dimndgal :)

Contemplating a ch-ch-change to RPC, DH is agreeable. The kids not so much oh well....

RPC would be fun! But maybe wait until a couples trip if the kiddos aren't on board? You'd hate their vibe to ruin your RPC.

I hope everyone is well and love reading about all the trip planning! Disney is super huge here but most people only do two or three days at TDR so it's not the same as getting to plan an extended vacation.

I am officially licensed to drive on the 'wrong' side of the road -- totally freaky experience and I worry about how I will handle going back and forth when we visit family! :drive: DD7 is doing well in school and just joined the swim team and she's having a ball exploring everything.

We have to go up near Tokyo next month for DH's work so we're looking at trying to squeeze two days at TDR... hoping it works out because the school year for the Japanese will have just started so it's supposed to be a much better time to go in terms of crowds. *fingers crossed*

Happy planning to all!!!

Glad all is well!! :-) My mom fractured her hip...again...and goes in for a consult down in St. Louis tomorrow. The doctor here won't touch a hip replacement when cancer's involved, so...we'll see. Even though it caused quite a large rough patch between DH and me, I am glad we're planning this family WDW trip in June. Mom's super excited, and that makes me happy and excited. It'll be worth it. :-)

OH NO! I am so so sorry to hear about your DM's hip! I can't imagine a second break and I hope that the scans go well. I happen to know STL has some of the best orthos around (my father, grandfather and grandmother all have used them multiple times) so I will keep fingers crossed it all works out.
A trip to Disney sounds like exactly what you all need to escape for a bit. SWW will be fun, too!

Wash U is actually where my DMIL went for chemo and most of her care. Much more knowledgeable I think than here in Springfield. Maybe it's a good a thing that this happened...
