beautiful daughter who will be 18 in 2 weeks how come I still see her as the little girl who thought I was her whole world!! Where did that time go?

If you have little kids just cherish that time you have~ before you know it they will be in the last year of high school making major decision in their life and off to college before you know it!!

I know what you mean. I can hardly look at my 16 year old some days without getting weepy. Its very bittersweet to see them grow up.

Even when I'm upset with her (like today for lying) I'm dreading the day she goes off and starts her own life. She is my heart and soul. She's a high school freshman now. I'm really going to miss her when she's gone. :sad1:

My "little boy" will be 18 in January... and he'll always be my little boy! Well, in my mind!:thumbsup2

When I joined the DIS he was 5. That was the day before yesterday, wasn't it? :confused3

Still waiting for that day everyone warned me about, when he'll be sick of me and want to get away from his "old" mama... hasn't happened yet, where is it???? :lmao:

OP, you're post got me all teary eyed. Everyone at work with teenagers always say how much they miss freezing their butts off at soccer/football games, watching their kids play.

Yep, soon you will be speaking with your dd about her dropping a history class because she is going to blow her GPA on it. Oh last day to drop is tommorrow. (This was the phone call today.)

Anyway it is the little things like that which dry my tears.:lmao:She is going to be 20 in April.:scared1:

:grouphug: I hear you! I am feeling your pain. My baby is doing the same. She grew up too darned fast. Even after I asked her not to. Kids!

My mom cried so hard at my 18th birthday party that my father had to take her into another nroom to talk to her. She was worse at my wedding. In fact my dad had to take her on a sort of second honeymoon when I was on my honeymoon (not to the same place lol) just to take her mind off me moving out. Maybe my being an only child made it harder for her. But now she's used to me being all grown up even though she constantly reminds me that I'm still her baby.

My baby becomes a teen today. I can physically feel the first time she was put into my arms. So quick...

My parents were the exact opposite! When they dropped me off at college, they said "we'll pick you up at the end of the semester" and that was it - no hug, no sentimental feelings, nothing. They were done parenting and they couldn't wait for their new kid-free life.

Even as an adult, I never ever once saw any misty-eyed sentiments from my parents about how we were young, how they miss that, etc. Just wasn't their parenting style.

I think I an envious of you who do see your kids in that way!

Not sure about where the time goes. But if you're anything like me, it will be more than a few years before you actually see her as an adult. My own children are 32, 30, and 24. They've been out on their own for awhile now and I just came to that same realization 3 weeks ago when DH walked the 32 yo down the aisle! Her 2 brothers were in the wedding party and as we were leaving church I turned to my sister and asked her what happened to my babies. While I'm so happy for DD, I have to tell you the experience was was more than a little bitter-sweet.

My baby will be 21 next month. The time really did go by fast. Seems like yesterday she was wrapping her pudgy little arms around me. :sad2:

I know what you mean, I felt the same way when my daughter was about to enter college. Where did the years fly off to? They grow up so freaking fast. Now she's a 32-year-old wife and mother, and has a great career. I'm so thankful they live just down the road from us, and we get to see them often. I enjoy babysitting for their two little ones (ages 5 and almost 2). I had them for a few hours the other day, and the littlest one fell asleep in my arms after lunch. Rather than putting her down for her nap, I continued to hold her. And so enjoyed it. I know how fast they grow up, and I just want to enjoy them every minute that I can. :)

I have a senior in high school and a 3 year old. I'm crying constantly. I also have a 13 and 11 year old too.

Its surreal to be doing all this senior things and teaching and doing all the things with a 3 year old. Bryan also loves to watch Toy Story 3 which makes me cry every time. My oldest, Kevin was about this age when the first movie came out and now were helping him choose his college.

Pass the dang tissues. These kids are going to dry me out!

I can so relate and agree!!!!:)

DD (only child) turned 13 this year. Each year, I count done the years of school left. We do things knowing "only x years left to make these moments/memories"!!!! I am so glad we held her back from school a year - one more we have with her!!!!!

I can wait for college (tearing up as I write this - ugg!:sad2:) The day we leave her at college will be so hard and so full of mixed emotions!

Oh yea. My older dd was 4 when that movie came out and we saw it in the theater together.

My older dd and I went and saw TS3 together in the theater with my sister, my mom and & younger dd of course. My sister and I were crying through the whole movie.:lmao:
