Well needless to say dieting has been the absolute last thing on my mind. My husband is a cop and got called to New Orleans Friday to back up the New Orleans police. My girls and I worked all weekend for the Red Cross. He is back home safe and sound. He was at the convention center when they brought food and water to those 15-20 thousand people on Friday. He says the conditions were every bit as deplorable as the media has shown.

I plan to go to WI on Thursday and try to get back on track maybe tomorrow.
Since there is no scale at home, I really have no idea where I am at. I have not eaten healthy, nor have I had much water. But I have really put in some sweat at the shelters so who knows??

I am afraid it will be a very long time before things around here feel normal again.
 
My grandmother lives in north Florida, and she has a lot of true, southern sayings. One came to mind when I was reading your entry..."You are good people". There are people who DO good and people who ARE good. There is a difference between the two. You, my friend, ARE GOOD PEOPLE. God bless you and your family.

With 3 DD, I have been forced to get back to a "normal" routine. I am hoping to get in a little Red Cross volunteering this weekend though.

I did not make it to WI yesterday. Correction I chickened out and choose not to go. Afraid I would not like what I saw. I will go next week.

I am journaling today and trying to drink lots of water. I will try and catch up on everyone's journal.
 
It's totally understandable that you missed your weigh-in. But you have the right attitude about getting back on track and making the weigh-in next week, good for you!!!

I hope things are settling down a little for you. Hang in there and keep up the good work! :flower:
 
I had a post typed up, submitted it and then I don't know what I did but it's not here. Now I can't remember what I said (must be that the weight loss is all going from my brain first :) :) ).

Sounds like you are on the right track even though it might not seem like it. You are doing good and it's okay to miss weigh in once in a while.

I knew that my WISH journal was important to my self-control. I've got to get back to journaling every day.

I almost caved just now and bought a Snickers from the vending machine. I have been on a chocolate craze for the last week. I have been depressed over Katrina. I need to get my emotions under control and really get back on track.

Tonight my BIL returns from Iraq. :flower: (Hope our Govenor doesn't send him to New Orleans now. Isn't that crazy. Those boys have been in Iraq for over a year and then they come home and she wants them to go to New Orleans and recover bodies, decontaminate the city and fight off looters. Forgive me, but can't we use the guard that has not just served in the middle east. Ok off my soap box now.)

We are going to my MIL for his welcome homedinner. If I skip dessert I can stay within my points range today. I have not journaled much this week, so I will just assume that all flex points were eaten in the chocolate craze and try to make do with my regular points.

So my 2 goals for today are:

1. Stay within point for today
2. Drink another 24oz water. So I have my 6 glass minimum.


I can do this, I can do this, I can do this!!!!
 
You can do it Cindy! I'm glad your BIL is coming home safe. That is really dumb to expect them to immediately go help out in New Orleans. Surely there is someone else available for that.

Skip that dessert and get back on track! It is easy to keep track of your food if you have one of those little notebooks handy. You can do it!!!! :teeth:
 
When DH returned from Iraq/Kuwait last year, he could not be called up again to service for 6 months. God bless your whole family. You are a very giving group of people!

Baby steps. I drank my minimum water yesterday. On the dessert my MIL made a new banana pudding receipe and wanted me to try it. So 1 teaspoon. I consider it a major victory!!! Especially since it was THE best banana pudding I have ever tasted.

BIL is home safe! We had a nice dinner and visit with him.

All 3 of my DD have been Disney dreamin' this week. They have got me doing it to. I really want to make that Thanksgiving trip. I am going to make that trip! If I can lose the weight (per our agreement) then DH will go with us. If not we'll send him a postcard. :rolleyes1 I did tell him due to all the stress this month I was reducing said agreement by 10lbs. :)

I leave for Las Vegas Monday. I will just do the best I can.
 
Vegas will be tough, but you can do it! Everytime you want to eat something unhealthy, just think of how much you want that Thanksgiving Disney trip!

You can do it, you are on your way to getting back on track!
 
Today is WI. The suspense is killing me. If I have at least maintained Iwill do a happy dance. (although I will wait until I am home alone to do it).

Today I have had;

B- 1 cup OJ
L- Slim Fast Shake

DD(8)'s school was selling pizza so I ordered one for dinner. Good news is it is my LEAST favorite of all - Little Caesars, so it should not be too difficult to remain within my points for the day.

Still having a hard time with the water. I will get my list of toasts out and see if that helps.
 
I lost 1.4 lbs at weigh in!!! Happy Dance :banana: :banana: :banana:

That brings my grand total to 5.6 I have been fighting with that 5 lbs for 3 years. Up and Down. I am really encouraged and want to see another dip when I WI again in 2 weeks. I'm hoping this will encourage me to show some more self control in Vegas next week.

YIPPEE!!!!!!!!! Congrats on the loss! Just remember how good it felt to see the scale down when you are tempted by something naughty in Vegas. :teeth: You can have an awesome time and still stay healthy!!

Hi Cindy! Congrats on the loss!

I went to Vegas for the first time last year...crazy place!!! It's tough to eat well while traveling. Some things I do is pack snacks for the drive/flight (airports and convenience stores are the worst for food), eat lots of salads, and drink plenty of water.

I hope you have a great time in Vegas! I'm super jealous! At least all of the buffets have fresh fruit and all of the super nice places serve teeny tiny portions. Hopefully you can manage. You sound very motivated!
