as an addition to.."I can't believe this happened at WDW"

I thought I saw a thread about this, but couldn't find it. My husband and I are at WDW now!!! ....and as I will write a trip report, I have to report this icky thing first.

Our first night we decided to go to the magic kingdom. We stopped in one of the shopping areas in future world (ok, totally forgetting the name now, I'm still a newbie!) and it was WAY crowded. My dh and I were looking at some merchandise and my foot was slammed in the back by a stroller wheel. That made me lose my balance, but I quickly regained my footing.

Now, did the woman pushing the stroller apologize? No. (I'm learning this to be somewhat common behavior at disney). Instead, as she was passing me, she said in a voice to her friend, "did you see, she almost fell onto my 5 month old!?!?!?!" Well, I really couldn't believe the gall of her statement, because it was one of those, obviously saying that so that I could overhear her. So, in character unlike myself (I usually don't say anything) I nicely said to her "you know, if you wouldn't have run your stroller into my foot, this wouldn't have happened."

She then looked at me and said (in that faux incredulous voice) "excuse me?" So I calmly repeated herself.

Then, in a loud voice she said "Well, you should just get your fat *** out of the aisle."

Well, instead of making a scene, I just left. I have to say that it took me about 2 days to get over that comment, and now I am enjoying my vacation. In retrospect, I wish I just would've looked her in the eye and said "wow," but have never had anything like that happen in my life, and I was just too shocked for words.

And with that, I am off to the parks.

Sorry that happened to you. EEkk. She must have been having a REALLY bad day. Try to let it go and have a great time!!!!! You are in Disney World!!!! Have fun!!!!

sorry that you ran into a rude one, especially in such an amazing place!! Just think tho...she has to live within herself....can't be a good place!! I hope your stay is magical all the rest of the time!! BTW where are you staying and is this your first stay? We are off to WDW in the end of April, and so looking forward to the trip and I will store some one liners incase I run into my "own rudies"! You said you will post a trip memo when you return? I'm so sorry that happened to you. Please don't let it ruin your vacation. People like that don't deserve the time wasted thinking about it. I hope the rest of your trip is wonderful. All you need is an extra hug from Mickey and everything will be great again.

Don't give her the satisfaction of ruining your vacation or even thinking about it twice. Brush it off and have a great time - wish I were there!

I have two children both teens now and did use a stroller when they were little. But i never tried to mow folks down with them. I have had to jump for my life a few times because some Mom's think that because they are pushing their kids in a stroller they own the world. Can not tell you the times I have been bumped and the parent never acted like they knew they had just hit someone. This really is a subject that makes my blood boil. I do hope that this did not mar your trip to much. Have a great vacation and enjoy the magic, there is to little of it left in our world.

Sorry to hear of your experience. Don't second guess yourself on what you should have said. Like other's have said, just enjoy your vacation. At least you can walk away from that idiot.

Unfortunately, the loser is the child to be raised by such an inconsiderate parent.

Hey, thanks all for your replies. I agree, and at this point, I am able to laugh heartily about it. =)

And I especially agree with the comments about sympathy for the baby. Poor kid, doesn't have much of a chance, or at least he does have his cards stacked against him with a momma like that. I won't write him off completely though, right?

As for where I'm staying, we're at our fav, WL. I will definitely be posting a trip report, my DH is keeping track of the anecdotes!!!

And, also, until today, it's been busier than what I was expecting for this time of the year! The weather is absolutely lovely though!!!!

I'll write more soon, but hey, we're only going to do internet access today, since it's a charge by the 24 hours!!
