Artist Point vs. Other Signature Restaurants

Thinking about trying Artist Point. Please tell me what you really loved about this restaurant. Is there anything really unique about the food and experience or is it just another good restaurant?

Will visit Wilderness Lodge one night for dinner. DS5 would enjoy Whispering Canyon Cafe more (plus it's right off the lobby) so I need good reason to cancel that and go to Artist Point instead.

We want to try new signature restaurants and love seafood and unique dishes. Our trip plans include a return to California Grill, Narcoosees, and Citricos. And trying Flying Fish Cafe and Hollywood Brown Derby for the 1st time. Did Jiko last trip (loved it but doesn't fit in our park plans).

If we go to Artist Point, we would skip Citricos and just dine at a non-signature restaurant - maybe Grand Floridian Cafe.

Thank you!

Just our two cents...but we enjoyed Narcoosee's much more than artists point. Both the food and service was much better. Artists point serves bison and it's tasty, but the seafood at Narcoosees is better...

Artist Point has a northwest menu; the buffalo dishes are something you can't get at any other WDW restaurant. Their salmon is considered to be the best on property and the decor here is very unique. If you go before the sun is down, the window views are spectacular. It's not my favorite signature; it ranks somewhere in the middle above Narcoosees and Yachtsman.

Compared to WCC, it's a 5 star dinner.

We did both Narcoosee's and Artist Point last trip. Meals at both were great but this time we are only repeating Artist Point. Their smoky portabella soup is my favorite soup of all time and although they kindly gave me the recipe I don't see myself going out and purchasing a smoker just to prepare the mushrooms! We were celebrating our anniversary on the trip and both places offered us complementary Champagne (we accepted.) Artist Point also comped us their signature dessert to share with a Tinkerbelle light clip on my side and a McQueen Racer (?) on my DHs side.

We're also trying Flying Fish for our first time this next trip. And repeating Yachtsman Steakhouse. As you can see, we also enjoy the Signature restaurants.

Artist Point is really great--at first we were skeptical that it wouldnt be as nice as some of our other signature faves, since it does fee a bit more casual in appearance, but those worries washed away quickly and we've gone on three trips now. Like a PP said, the buffalo dish is very unique and sooooo good. I so want to try the salmon which they are also known for, but I can never bring myself to since we cant get buffalo anywhere at home. I also think that smoked portobello soup is amazing & I'm not even a big mushroom fan, but it was out of this world! Definitely worth including on your trip IMO.

We've done Artist Point every trip. I was brought up in Oregon, so feel very at home w/ the menu. That said, I'm a foodie, pretty discriminating...have never had anything there that wasn't spot on. The service is excellent too.

Another vote for AP. Been seven times in the past few years and always had excellent service and food. Wine selection is superb and pairs well with their dishes. Buffalo is excellent, and the salmon very good. Smoky portobello soup is tremendous. The ambience is also wonderful. The kids menu is good, especially the white chocolate puzzle with edible paints for dessert. Or there is the Cubs Den located just across the lobby where your child can play, eat, and enjoy games, movies, etc. I think AP is an excellent selection.

The menu sure sounds good. The Buffalo steaks sound good but I'd probably go with the Cedar Plank salmon just because it is cooked differently (smoked) and the smoky mushroom soup sounds good too.

Anyone ever have this dessert?
Warm Fig Clafouti - with buttermilk swirl ice cream and port wine reduction
