Artist Point vs Hoop-dee-do revue (sp)

Hi! We are totally new to WDW - we leave Wed!!! We are getting the MYW plus dining package and probably will have an extra "sit down" or "dinner" ticket because of the time our flight leaves. Since you can combine two and eat at a nicer restaurant or see a show, we're trying to decide what to do. The revue seems to be better than the luau (sp) - but is it better than a nice restaurant like artist point?

We do not have children and we do not have a clear preference between a nice meal and an entertaining basic meal.... Preference would come if the show is really geared towards children and the restaurant a "must not miss" or something.

Thank you!!!! What a great forum!

we love the show kids or no kids we do it each trip. The shows sell out alot so if this is something you want to do call soon. Have your DH try to get in the show.

We have done Hoop De Doo twice & Artist Point several times. Artist Point makes our short list of favorite restaurants in the World & we rarely go to WDW without enjoying a nice dinner there.

That said, Hoop De Doo is fun if you like silly, slapstick humor & great fried chicken. It isn't geared towards children only, but tame & silly enough that they enjoy it.

So, if you want really delicious food in a relaing, primarily adult setting - Artist Point is the way to go.

If you are looking for an evening of silly entertainment & good, down home cooking - Hoop De Doo fills that bill.

The experiences are too different to really compare to each other.

i agree w/Leota. the 2 are so different that there is really no comparison. both have their own personalities and attributes. one thing to keep in mind is the timing. you did not say what time your flight is; the HDD is about 90 minutes in length. dinner is whatever you make it. either will be a good choice. good luck! :teleport: :earboy2:

Thanks to you all! We don't get there until after dinner on wed night the 19th. We leave around dinner time on Sunday the 23rd. We figure that Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night we'll each use two of our sit-down meal passes to go to a show or nice dinner. UNLESS - one day we don't use any sit-downs at all and we get by with the snacks and stand-ups (I hear there is a lot of food) and then the other two nights use two each and go to Hoop de doo one night and the nice diner the other...

Is there another show or restaurant that people think is a must see compared to these choices?

Thank you!!

Andrea

jiko at animal kingdom lodge is excellent. it is always a toss up between artist point and jiko when we go!! both are wonderful! :teleport: :earboy2:
