Article about disboards/DVC points

Hello, I am visiting this board because I read an article in the NYTimes about renting timeshares....halfway through the article they talk about the disboards and how you can rent DVC points....
Thought you guys might like to see it

Interesting article. Even had a DVC renter tell her story. Too bad they didn't compare the rack rate with the DVC rent per point rate. There is a big savings between the two. I also think the article could bring more inquiries to this site

I am the DVC renter who told my story. I have been so grateful to all of the DVC members who have allowed me to rent their points in the past and have a wonderful family vacation at a DVC resort. We have been really lucky to have dealt with such nice people.

We really want to buy DVC, but right now it just won't work for us. Hopefully some day we can!!

Sadly (although good for me), $8 a point seems to be the going rate on the boards right now. I'm not entirely sure I agree with the reasoning being that Disney has their own offers. I think thats like comparing apples to oranges, in a way. We all know that people choose DVC resorts for a reason. I think it has to do with much more than that. I, too, wish they would have shown a comparison...but I'm kind of glad they didn't. I don't want "the secret" to get out!!

To sum it up: Thank you to all who rent their points, and share the magic with my family and others. We truly appreciate it!
