Art of Henna in EPCOT - How much does it cost?

The Art of Henna offers temporary henna "tattoos" in a variety of sizes and styles.

Our DD, age 17, is thinking of getting a simple henna temporary tattoo while we are at WDW.
How much do they cost ?
Anyone know a price range?

I can't do henna myself for diddly but they sell henna tubes for $1 (at least up the street from me) and maybe an artistic friend of hers can do it for her pre-trip

$15 to $60 is a fair range estimate. All depends on the size and complexity. They do also sell henna kits for around $10 in the store by the stage. You can look at the book with the designs to see the prices before deciding.

Just back from WDW and DD, her friend and I all got henna tattoos. It cost $25 and $30 for the designs that we got. I think the most expensive one in the book was about $60. The lady there does a great job and they really last a long time!

DD got one in AK in the Africa area (outside the large white store in Harambe). There's a book to look through with prices starting at $15 - the one she selected meant "happiness" and looked like a flower it was $20.

I think where you have it done (on your body) does have an impact on how long it lasts - DD had hers on the inside of her wrist and it lasted almost 2 weeks. Also as someone pointed out in a previous post it's really important to leave the henna stuff on as long as possible. DD's didn't start to come off until almost 24 hours after it was done.

I agree, also you need to put olive oil on it. Yes, olive oil, it darkens the color and makes it last longer. I had my whole hand done with a Henna tattoo in Epcot and it lasted alomost a month! I had left the stuff on & let it flake off on its own and used the olive oil like I was instructed and was really happy with the results.

My DD12 got one when we were at Epcot back in October and the little teeny tiny ones with just a few lines starts at $15 but for a normal sized one that is a few inches up your hand onto your wrist is going to run you between $25 and $40.

It is suppose to last a week but it only lasted about 3 days. DD was disappointed that it didn't even last long enough to make it back home to show her friends at school.

The one my DD got was $25 and it was about 5 inches long. Not elaborate at all and after seeing how fast she did it (about 90 seconds) it felt like a big rip off.

Once she does it you go inside the store next door and pay and bring her back the receipt.

You leave the Henna gel on until it is completely dry and falls off by itself and try to keep it from getting wet as much as possible.

I think they use cheap crappy Henna ink. Good Henna should last more than 3 days.

Wow! I had one on top of my hand and up the wrist when I was there in Sept. It was like $30.00 and lasted about three weeks, before it started getting really patchy and I finally scrubbed the rest of it off with a body buffer. The lady said to avoid getting it wet that night, so I took a tub bath, bathed with just one hand, and held the other arm up trying to keep it from getting wet. I also was real careful to sleep with the arm up on a pillow (with a towel on it) that night trying to baby and protect it. The artist also said something about using olive oil and protecting it from pool water (told me to tape plastic zip lock or saran wrap over the tattoo) and to be sure to not pick at it, when the black stuff started flaking off. She said the main reason they fade is as soon as the black stuff starts flaking off, it looks kinda ugly, so people pick it off to get to the brown henna part underneath. She said to let it flake off at it's own speed, protecting it as much as possible to keep the black part on as long as possible, and the lighter brown part underneath will stay longer. I told her I didn't have any olive oil, but did have some cleansing oil and she said it probably had olive oil in it, so pat the tattoo with that. I did and it still looked good for over 2 1/2 weeks after I got home. I also just avoided the pool for the rest of that trip. I was very pleased with mine and thought it was worth the price.

The length really depends on where you get it done. My DW had one done on her hand, and it only lasted a few days. Everytime she washed her hands it got wet and a bit got scrubbed off. Another time she got one on the back of her lower arm, and it was there for a few weeks. Listen to the care instructions the artist provides and choose the location wisely and it can last a long time.

My girls got them done in the summer time one time and between the heat (sweating) and the pool, their henna tattos (so pretty!) only lasted about a week, They also got them done in October, not so hot, no swimming and they lasted almost 3 weeks. I definitely think if you swim during vacation that will affect it too.
My girls love getting them though, and they are really pretty.

My oldest got one done in Epcot. Here is some pictures

This cost $25. It was originally supposed to be straight, but she asked the lady to kind of spiral it around her ankle. It lasted a good 3 weeks and then my dd used body pens to keep coloring it in. We were very careful with it and used olive oil too. Don't scrub at it, at all.

Geez, the best place for it seems like the back of the neck. I always manage to scrub things off.
