I am curious to know what this it like and how long does it last? We want to do some of things that we didn't do last cruise. Anybody have any opinions or a review?

They usually have different offering each day. We've only been to one (it was the last seminar in the series on creating entrees). It was really cool.... a bit like being at one of those FoodTV shows. They even passed out samples!! I'm not sure if they still do that...maybe somebody else can confirm? :)

I loved this!!! Get there early to get a very close seat. And the next day get there earlier because more people will have heard about it.

Yes, they are cooking demonstrations of appetizers, main course, and desserts. Yes, you get a nice little plate of each to try along with a paired wine. And the last day, they will give you the recipes for each.

They also have classes each day on napkin folding which was surprisingly fun and on decorating a table, if I remember correctly.

I would definitely do this again. I really enjoyed the salmon recipe they made, and have made it many times here....it's a winner.

Also if you attend all the seminars you get first crack at the tickets for the behind the scenes Kitchen Galley Tour , which is very entertaining. ::yes:: ::yes::

Wow that sounds like a really wonderful seminar! Is there a cost for the seminars? Do they have a different series on the Magic and the Wonder or are they the same on both ship?

Is there a cost for the seminars?
Of course there's a "cost" for the seminars;) -- Just how much did you pay for your cruise:confused: Just joking:jester: The only cost involved is the price of the cruise.

As far as the differences in offerings between the Magic and Wonder - I don't have a clue.

I went to most of these, and they always have little treats and drinks and i thought it was great. my husband went a couple times which really surprised me as he usually doesn't give a hoot about things like that, and he even thought it was fun!

I just checked out some old navigators for a 3 night and I don't see it...do they have them for the 3 night??

I would guess that they do not offer them on the 3-day as there are no sea days. On the 7-day these series are offered mostly on sea days. Also, they had to expand the programming when they began doing 7-day itineraries and I'm guessing that this was one of the additions (like Tea and Brunch at Palo, the Character Breakfast, Formal Night, etc.).

yes, when i checked on that, and of course it has been a while now, they only offered these on sea days on the seven day cruises.

Thanks everybody we will look into on our next 7 day.

Here are some pics of the silly things they do at the napkin folding class. they made my DD's and nieces wear them when the seminar was over!!!

We had Ian and Becky as hosts for this class and they were great...very funny and enthusiastic. Becky is one of the dining room servers and Ian was on the Cruise Staff but has since left DCL.

I enjoyed the art of entertaining. I went to the appetizer and they served shrimp and scallops to taste and then the gave you a taste of wine and taught you about the wine you were tasting.

The main course was tenderloin with mashed potatoes and it was the best filet I've ever tasted. They served another wine and another lesson.

Dessert was a pear tart I believe. I didn't take the recipe home because noone here would try it. It was very good.

We also went to the napkin and towel folding session. I enjoy these because you can go back and practice with your kids and entertain them during dinner.

As long as you are at the last art of entertaining session you will have first shot at the galley tour tickets. They are handed out at the end of the class.

It's a nice way to pass the time on a sea day. It took me a bit to get use to tasting wine at 10AM but it was a good opportunity to try something new.

Beckie was our server for our October 25th cruise. She was GREAT!!!! Adem was her assistant server. We have requested them for our June cruise:D

I've even tried to cook some of the dishes. Somehow they didn't taste as good as they did when someone else does the cooking

I wonder was it really your cooking or the thought of having to clean up after yourself. That's the part I really hate::yes::

When I make the salmon and risotto, I always have Beauty and the Beat playing and we relive memories of the cruise.........it helps!!!!:sunny:

Art of Entertaining is my can't-miss part of the cruise! These classes are some of my favorite activities. The only thing that makes me sad is that all the main dishes at the classes we've done always involve seafood, which I really hate! :) Still, it's lots of fun.
