What do you think my chances are of seeing the new "Pirates of the Carribean" ride when I'm there June 20 - 23? I could possibly shift my reservation by a day, but I know Disney usually open rides on a random casual basis before their big grand (re)opening days.

That's the problem with soft openings. They just kind of randomly do it. I'll make sure to ask a CM when I'm there tomorrow night. I'll probably just get the generic response though...

Pirates is set to open the 26th it might open to the public on the 25th but I doubt highly that it will open before that. This is a ride DL is set with opening with the movie premiere in the park don't see a soft opening of earlier then the 25th happening!

it occurs to me that there may be a soft opening for ap holders or maybe as a quest bonus for vmk.

The other way we could see Pirates is to save a day from our AAA multi-day pass and return on our way back from San Diego on the 26th or 27th. Anyone familiar with the way these passes are regarding using them within say, a 2 week period? I seem to recall that previous 3 or 4 day passes say that they don't need to be used on consecutive days but that they must be used within a certain time after its' first use. Does that sound right?

I thought it was 14 days after the initial use, I do not have a ticket to look at. Wrote CS about a month ago about this issue. I was told with the premeire on the 24th and teardown etc on the 25th that there most likely would not be a opening earlier than the 26th. I read somewhere BB would not be opening until after July 1, but you know how Disney changes things when schedules are not met. Best of luck.

I saw that blue bayou wont' be opening until July 1st too and then today I read that it will open on the 26th but it will be walk in only no priority seating until july 1st.

I also read that Johnny Depp has a press conference on the 26th and is going to open the ride with that. Which pretty much dashes any hope of the ride opening before at the earliest the 25th if they are going to do some type of preview before the 26th.

I don't think they really know what is going on they have been changing the dates so many times!!!

We got lucky last year and hit Space MT a few weeks before it's big re-opening so I will send some PD your way.We also got to do MS way before it opened still had the walls up around the entrance.

I have never known Disney not to do a soft opening on any major rides or major re-works.I think they learned their lesson on opening day.Make sure everything works with real people on the ride before anouncing it opened.

It may be just CM's or for a few hours or so but they always have something.

Good Luck to you all We will be stopping by the WDW MK one everyday we are there from June 25th to July 2nd in hopes for a ride on the new one there.

I hope I'm not the only one who thinks the subject should have just been 'arrrrrr! "Pirates" soft opening?' ;)

D'OH (hits forehead with hand) Of course!

Thanks to everyone for the input - much appreciated.

Hopefully if they do have a soft opening it's not open to just AP holders or VMK players. They should definitely include 1st timers who managed to book their 1st ever DL vacation the week PRIOR to POTC reopening--and who will be outside the ride crying if it's open to a select few and we're not one of them. :)

We are arriving on June 24th and I can't remember where I read it (maybe an email form the hotel) that DL will be closing early on the 24th (I think at 5) for a special event and CA will be open until 11:00 p.m.

The park closes at 5pm for the premeire of DMC. All of the Rivers of America and NOS are supposed to be cordoned off with trffic being directed thru different routes.

From everything that I have read, do not expect a soft opening of PotC, do not expect it until at least June 26, but possibly not until July 1st.

I'm sure that the PotC in Disneyland is re-opening on June 25. Where did you hear that it wouldn't be open to regular ticket-holders until July 1st?

We're planning on saving a day of our 4 day AAA parkhopper to use on June 26 or 27th, after going down to San Diego for a few days.

From everything I have heard it won't open until the Monday after the premiere (June 26th, I believe). Even the Disneyland calendar does not list it as open until then. I didn't say that it wouldn't open until July 1st, just the from things I have heard (mainly regarding Blue Bayou not opening until July 1st) that it could too also not open until then.

With the signs at the park saying it will open June 2006, I'm betting they plan to stick to that schedule. Just my .02

While I would imagine so, but you have to remember EVERYTHING at Disney is "subject to change with our without notice" ;)
