hi guys, our school has been trying to have a chalk festival since, oh sometime last year. It got rained out twice last year so we rescheduled it to sept 20th. Well, now it's going to hurricane! I just want to cry! I give up! Ok I'm done venting. maggie

Here's sending pixie dust you way Maggie. Maybe you'll get lucky and the hurricane will take the northly route with a 30% chance to New England instead. Not that I'm wishing a hurricane on use but, hopefully it will take a different path for your chalk festival.

What is a chalk festival is sounds like something very fun.

I miss by DD being little.

if we ever get to do it.......

basically the chalk festival is an outdoor event where people buy squares on our track and get chalk and draw whatever they want. We also have bubble art, sticker art, photos with mona lisa, and a cake walk planned. We have been trying to do this since last april. It rained us out twice (that was when it rained for 38 straight days....) (not to mention that bingo got snowed out twice....) So, what's a little hurricane right? I think I should just not be in charge of it and then maybe the weather would cooperate. :D Maybe I should make up a little song and dance to make isabel go away. Any ideas? maggie

Sounds like fun! I hope you get to do it soon! Makes me think of Mary Poppins!

well, if it ever happens it could be fun. :D I just looked at the projected path for "supercane" isabel and I seriously doubt that we will be having it on saturday.

I sent an email to our pricipal suggesting that perhaps the music teacher and different parent volunteers should organise the next date since clearly the art teacher and myself are bad weather luck:D (the way our weather luck goes, this sucker is going to go up the chesapeake bay and down the potamac river with it's 155 mph winds... guess that would mean no school on friday eh? :D ) maggie

What a clever idea! Are your kids Louden or Fairfax? My kids are not old enough but I may have to share that idea with my sis who has kids in fairfax! How much do you charge per square?

I fly to Disney on Thursday so keep your figers crossed that we make it before Isabelle hits here!

hi, we are loudoun county. If you want, you could have your sister contact me, I'd be more than happy to share our plans. Basically we are planning to charge $5 for a chalk sqaure, starter set of chalk (I think we put 5 pieces of chalk in the bag) and 8 activity tickets. The activities include bubble art, face painting, sticker art, pictures taken with mona lisa (our art teacher made one of those pictures where you stick your head in) and a cake walk. Extra activity tickets will be 25 cents, the activities will be 1 ticket and the food/soda/water will be 2 tickets.

Of course this is all assuming that isabel goes out to sea.... :D

I just had to chime in here. Sorry about your Chalk Fair. Sounds like a fun event. And one that I’ve not heard of. Just to add my two cents worth in here. I get to go on my loooooong awaited vacation to Washington DC (first time for me and mom) on Wednesday the 17th ….straight into the path of Isabel…. LOL Oh well we’re bringing a crib board, cards and some magazine. Believe it or not we are even bring some candles. Should be an adventure…..

PS: Julianne, I’m throwing some pixie dust your way hoping that you’ll be able to leave for your trip on time and everything goes safely!

don't forget to take all of our phone numbers.... :D Hope you have a great time here and that Isabel comes and goes quickly maggie

Thank you I'm going to share the Chalk festival idea with my sister and a few of my teacher friends too. I think that is such a fun idea. I'll PM you if I need more info. Hopfully Isabella will turn around and it will go off without a hitch!

I"m thankful she will miss Florida! All I need to to do is pray I can get out of Dullas by 8:30 Thurday morning. And that my basement does not flood like it has all summer long with the rain!

AJA55: Thanks for the wishes. Really bring those candles! I can't tell you how many times this rainy summer we have lost power! I hope you love the city and Isabella turns out to be a little drizzle.
