Arriving on Oct 3 - any possible hurricane or Tropic storm?

Yes, I have to say that I'm a bit worried about the weather.
Is there any threat out there, building up in the ocean??

There are always lots of threats building in the ocean between Africa and the Southeastern US at this time of year! But there is no way to know what will happen two weeks from now. If there will be a storm in the area when you are there, it probably hasn't even formed yet.

Just remember, prior to last year, WDW had only been closed ONE DAY IN 33 YEARS due to weather.

Go, enjoy, and don't worry the possibility of some rain!

Hurricane season runs through November. There is always a possibility a storm will brew.

There's no reason to stress over hurricanes in Disney. Orlando is in CENTRAL Florida, not on the coast. So there is no storm surge or anything like that to worry about. And usually after a hurricane has passed over land it weakens.

Rain is almost a daily thing in Disney anyway.

We actually were down there last year when Ivan was a threat and actually had one of our best trips ever! No one was there, most people had cancelled with the threat. And even though it rained just a little every day it was almost as if we had the parks to ourselves...

When we went to MK my husband and kids rode Big Thunder Mountain Railroad about 5 without getting off. I just sat there and waited for them (was pregnant at the time). Then walked around the park like we owned it.

Don't get me wrong, I felt bad for all those people that cancelled but Disney was up and running and going stong....

I live in North Carolina and we ALWAYS keep an eye to the east watching for hurricanes....This morning (besides Rita) there are two other systems that are trying to form out there. One is supposed to track towards Bermuda north (so no threat for you there) and the other they really haven't said. But if you look and the history of direct hits to orlando on the noaa service, there haven't been many at all.

So I wouldn't worry too too much. Go and have a great safe trip.

Not to stir things up but when the hurricanes came through Central Florida last year they did a lot of damage. True we didn't have storm surge but many many people lost their homes. Lots of other homes lost roofs and they still aren't replaced.

Even if no surge or winds, don't care for the chaos of gas lines and heavy evacuation traffic as in Ivan and Katrina and now Rita!!! Living on the Gulf Coast in Alabama, this chaos is just simply pixied away There Rita and those who come after you! Pray for Texas. Just looked out the window and those waves are breathtakingly beautiful...

I'm going the day after you. I think it'll be all right, since Orlando is in central Florida, but if there are storm warnings people may cancel, and then the parks would be less crowded.

There were 3 hurricanes that came through Central Florida last year. There is nothing on the horizon but hurricanes do cause damage in the Orlando area.

We will be in the world on Sept 29 tell OCt 5. Hopping there will not be any Hurricanes. But we will take what comes at us at that time.
