Arriving MCO at 5 pm...need a realistic timeline

Hi,

We arrive in a few weeks at MCO on Sunday night the 10th at 5 pm. Barring any unforseen problems, how long can we reasonably allow from when we land to when we're checked in at POR? We will let ME pick up the checked bags, so we just need to go to the ME desk, get on the bus, get to POR, and check in.

My main question is will we be at POR at a reasonable time for dinner at the food court, or should we grab a quick bite at the airport instead? I was kind of thinking we'd be at POR and checked in by 6:30, and walk over to the food court. Reasonable or not? I'm hoping someone will have an idea of general times for a Sunday evening at a nonpeak time.

Generally it has been just over an hour from the time you get off the plane until you arrive at your resort. I would expect that it would be around 6:30 or so by the time you get checked in.
I'd just wait until you got to the POR, you can eat at the food court or at Boatwright's for a sit down meal.

Absolutely doable!!! You should be all checked in by 6:30. Head to your room, freshen up, then walk over to the food court for a bite to eat. POR is one of my favorite resorts.
Average times of 70 minutes are the norm with DME. Depending on which stop POR is, it could be as little as 50 minutes. Have a great trip...pack those warm clothes...looks like it could be chilly!

We will be coming in to POR about the same time you are, but next April.

We are going to take the boat to DTD and eat at Earl of Sandwich. We don't plan on doing any parks that evening. I thought it would be a great way to wind down and get settled into our rooms for the evening.

Um, the only glitch in your plan might be that the POR food court will be closed for a while. Check the closures schedule on the DISBoards home page www.wdwinfo.com
You can still walk over to POFQ; there'll also, I think, be some grab-and-go food available; and, like OhMari, you can take the boat to Downtown Disney and eat there.

You should be fine. We did just about the same thing except we were at SSR. We had hoped to eat at the Earl of Sandwich at DTD, but the buses were mobbed and we were too pooped to walk (I was with my mom). We ate at SSR (chicken wraps) and it worked out fine.

90 minutes from landing to resort check-in is completely reasonable. We usually arrive about that time (flying from the west coast) and that's been our experience.

I think the food court is closing in January. You should be fine in a few weeks!! Love the idea of taking the boat to DTD though. One of our favorite things to do!!! Wolfgang Puck Express is pretty yummy also!!!

Thanks everyone! Yes, the food court is open while we're there. No problem there. I feel for those folks coming in Jan though. We don't plan to use the fc often, but I like knowing it's there for refills and quick meals.

We fly from the West coast too, so it will be a long day and we'll just be glad to be at POR!

Very reasonable timeline. We made it from airplane to POFQ in 56 minutes, and then check in took 15 minutes.

After you check in at POR, you can bring your carry-ons with you to the food court (same building) or, if you really prefer, have Bell Services store them for you.

Although, if you can hold out, I, too, like the idea of taking the boat to DTD for dinner there. The dock is very near Earl of Sandwich and Wolfgang Puck Express -- both are counter-service.
