If I book our flights to leave the night before our ressie, I can save about $800. So I was thinking about staying in the hotel at the airport in Orlando and then going to our Disney hotel in the morning. Is there a way to do that on ME? And if so, how do I go about scheduling that? The reason I am not just adding an extra day to our hotel ressie is that we need to do something here the morning we leave and we are DVC members so it seems crazy to me to use points for a night that will amount just sleeping. Am I crazy? Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks!

You would give them a flight number from the following day that corresponds with when you want to depart the airport.

You can also arrange, for a fee, for the hotel to assist you in getting your bags from the carousel to the hotel and then back over to ME in the morning. I know that the Hyatt says that on their website.

It should be ok - we did it in reverse in Dec. 2009 (stayed at MCO Hyatt last night of trip). We had early morning flight home and DBF was not going to get up at 4:00 a.m. to catch ME. When I made WL ressie, they asked time of return flight, and I asked if I could take the ME to airport the night before around 8:00 p.m. - it was no problem. Last day at WL, we stowed our bags with concierge, went to park, came back to WL to catch ME. We were tired and ready to go early, and so I called the ME line and they moved us to the next ME at 6:30 p.m. ME even dropped us at airport entrance near the hotel. We just took our bags and walked into the Hyatt. For your arrival, I think you could just ask them to schedule you at a time close to when you want to get up and go in the a.m. If you don't want to pay the Hyatt fee, you probably can just carry your bags yourself to ME check-in (we almost got our own bags from carousel and did that when we landed b/c it was a last-minute trip and we hadn't gotten ME baggage tags before leaving - but then found out if we gave our bag claim check to the CM at the ME check-in podium, they would get our bags). Hope this helps!

I am doing that for DVC in Sept. - we are staying at the Hyatt in the airport nd then the next morning ME

I talked to DVC and they said I can take the bus in the morning and sent me tickets for the next day without a flight number. The Hyatt told me they will pick my bags up for a small fee - I think $10 total. Then I am pretty sure they will take it to ME in the morning for you. Apparently it is pretty common for people to do this.

Thank you everyone for your responses! I am glad to know that others do this and that it seems easy enough to do. I really appreciate it!

Just a thought....the Hyatt can be expensive, since you are only needing a bed for the night what about booking a WDW value resort. They will transfer your bags for free the next morning and then you get a totally full first day without getting up at the crack of dawn.

I think it isn't so much the cost of the room, as it was the cost of the flight savings vs. traveling on ME so late at night. They didn't want to go on ME until the next morning.

So doing a value for the first night would be an issue for them. If they had wanted to get to Disney so late that night, they would have just added an extra to their existing room ressie.

I was surprised to find out that the Hyatt was only about $100 for the night. I have heard you can better deals on Hotwire for it closer to your date as well. For us - we arrive at 10:15 - then you would have to get your own luggage and get on ME. I would imagine you would not leave the airport before 11:00- an hour to get to the resort and check in and it would be midnight before we would get to room. Add in my kids bouncing off the walls and I didn't think there was any way we would be settled and ready for sleep before 12:30 - in a perfect best case scenario!!!

This way - we land at 10:15 check in and are hopefully in our room by 10:45 with the kids asleep by 11:00. And the best thing would be if our plane is delayed that we will still have the short trip to our room in the airport!

I think that is pretty good, considering the extra added stress of keeping the kids up well past their bed time!

We are doing exactly the same thing - our flight gets in at 11:15pm and with 3 kids, I need to just whisk them right to up to bed. Even paying the hotel cost for the Hyatt (we reserved a room for $120) we saved so much money on our air fare that it was worth it.

I also checked with Disney when we made our reservation about taking ME express in the morning after our arrival and they said it would not be a problem, just schedule a time for pick up and obviously we would take care of our own luggage.

Thank you both for posting that you are doing exactly what I am asking about!:thumbsup2

It's not necessary to research a false flight to tell DME. Call DME and tell them what you plan to do, and they'll hook you up with a DME reservation for a ride from airport to resort that meets your needs.

But you can't do this more than 60 days in advance. DME doesn't have your resort reservation information before the 60-day mark, and since DME is a function of resort reservations, they can't do the DME reservation for you without access to your resort reservation.

And I would NEVER call 407-W-DISNEY with such a situation, as you're pretty likely to be told it can't be done (because they don't know all the details).
