Arriving Emeryville first of April 2011 via Amtrak

First ever trip to San Francisco, need any advice possible. Would you stay in Emeryville and commute to SF? Advice for getting from Amtrak station to SF?Could you suggest a hotel in SF near the Moscone Center? Will only have two full days, what would you suggest? Disney Family Museum? What will the weather be like? I know this is allot of questions, please answer any or all, we do not have a clue. Thank you very much

I think if you can go another station, Richmond the matrak is adjacent to the Richmond BART station.


At the Powell station of BART you are a couple blocks from Moscone center and a dozen hotels. In general stay on the north side of Market St near union square. It gets a little shady on the south of Market.

It's been a while, but Amtrak used to offer transfers to SF via bus. They have several stops in SF and I believe the Moscone Center is one of them. There are several hotels in the area, the Marriott being one of the largest. It's only a couple of blocks to the nearest BART station or to the cable car stop.

Alcatraz is a great destination with a self-guided tour.

Yes, one of the Amtrak bus transfer stops is on Market Street near the Powell St Cable Car turntable and a short walk to the Parc 55 Hotel, which I can recommend. That hotel is a short walk to Moscone Center - I've stayed there during events at Moscone. Btw, this stop has the station code SFS on the Amtrak site.
