Arriving early

As we have an early flight from the UK, I expect we will be arriving at Hotel Cheyenne around noon. I know that we won't be able to get into our room but do they allocate the room when we arrive? Last time we went to DLP and stayed at Newport Bay, I seem to remember that we left our luggage with bell services and went to the park but can't remember if our room was allocated at that time.

Rooms are normally allocated a few days before arrival.
If no one has been in the room before you arrive then it might be ready for noon, if not you'll be able to leave your cases with reception and head off to the park.

I don't know if this is what you mean, but they won't give you your room number until the room is ready. So if you have to leave your luggage and head off to the parks, you will then have to go back to reception to find out where they put you and collect your key.
