Okay, this may seem like a silly question and maybe one that has been answered a thousand and two times, but here goes.

My DW and I are going to WDW in December and will be staying at the WL. We will be flying in and renting a car. What do we do when we arrive. Do we pull up to the front, unload our bags, go check-in, go to the room, and then go move the car?

I'm sure we could let valet take care of the car for us and then self-park after that (if we didn't want to pay the $7 / day), but when do you pay? Do you pay when you drop the car off or when you pick it up?

Thanks for your help everyone!

I think you can leave your car parked and then go move it after you check in.....just like at any hotel.

i have the same question for the same place....

also what is the $7 a day chg for?

If you choose to use valet parking, then they put it on the hotel bill when you check out. You dont pay the valet directly for the charges, although we do tip them when we ask them to bring the car around.

If you want to self-park, I would say pull up, tell them you want to check in and then self park. Usually it wont be a problem. If it is, you can take your bags out and one person can check in and one can self park. We've never had to do that, though, at any hotel. We've also told hotels that we want to leave the car in the front until we know if our room is ready yet. That has never been a problem, either.

At the Coronado, there are certain spots marked for check-in (I think it is a 30 minute parking zone). I'm not sure how the other resorts work.

When you arrive at the entrance to the resort, you will first go through the entrance gate. They will ask for your name as it should show up on their list of expected guests. It might be handy if you have your reservation voucher. Once through you can pull right up to the entrance to the hotel. They will accommodate whatever you would like to do. I would have the bellman take your bags and head in to checkin. You can either have them valet park your car or they will hold it there and you can self park after your check-in is complete. We checked in at Bc recently and everythinhg went quick and smooth. If you are checking early in the day and your room is not ready, they will hold your bags and you can call later, or they can call you. Once your room is assigned, your KTTK will be room active. When you head back the resort (if you haed out for other activities) you can head right to your room.

First off, let me say you will LOVE the WL in December :woohoo: :woohoo:. The resort is absolutely beautiful at Christmas time with all the decorations :santa: It is the best decorated resort that time of year, IMO ;). As far as checking in.....we usually rent a car when we go and DH just pulls up in the front and our 2 DSs and I get out with the luggage and DH goes and parks the car.....that way I don't have 4 pieces of luggage to handle by myself :rolleyes1. The boys and I then head inside to check in and DH meets us in the lobby :goodvibes. But I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem to let the car sit somewhere in front for a few minutes while you check in. Hope you have a great trip and enjoy the WL......it's a GREAT resort :dance3:.

You might want to ask them though if they need your keys. When we checked in at CR the asked for our keys in case our car needed to be move for some reason. Otherwise you should have no problem leaving your car while you check in.

Valet Parking at Disney World

Valet Parking is offered at all of the Disney Deluxe Resorts. There is a $10.00 daily fee for using this service.

So the $7.00 isn't the cost to valet park.

When you arrive @ The Wilderness Lodge first stop is the guard station, tell them you are checking-in and give them your name they will request a Photo ID, at the Lodge the guard will give you your parking pass good for the duration of your stay.

A.) You may park in the self-parking area now, then go to the Lobby and check-in. You could wait until you have your room assignment then return to your car and retrieve your luggage taking your luggage directly to your room with no assistance.

B.) You may drive to the front and have the bellman remove your luggage and hold them at bell services until you have check-in and received your room assignment. (You will receive luggage claim tickets for all you luggage) Once in your room you will call the Bellman and they will deliver your luggage to your room. (Tips are approbate for the bellman that removes your luggage from the car and the bellman who delivers your luggage to your room)

After the bellman removes your luggage, you may then self-park while the other members in you party enter the Lodge and check-in or wait for your return from parking then check-in.

C.) You may drive to the front tell the Bellman you will be using Valet Parking have them remove your luggage and hold it until you call from the room. You will receive luggage claim tickets for all you luggage plus you will give the Valet your car keys and they will take your car and park it. The Valet will also give you a separate claim ticket for your car. (Tips are approbate for all valet and bellman.)

The Valet service is $10.00 a day and will be added to your bill at Check-Out.

That's the old cost to valet before they outsourced it and prices went up while service went down. If you decide to valet park it make sure that you're window card for the day is left in the car when they give it back to you.
Last summer there were issues at several resorts where the cards disappeared when the keys were handed back to the guest. It happened to us at GF twice and when we went thru the gate to retrieve it the second time the guard said they'd been having a real problem with that since the changeover.
You want to have the window card because you can use the valet without any additional charge at other WDW resorts when you go to eat or whatever.

The $10 is charged once each 24 hour period and covers all the wdw deluxe resorts. We'll often use valet on the days we expect to be in and out but self park if the car is gonna sit untouched in the lot. If you split the stay like that you may also want to double check the bill to be sure that you were only charged for the days you used it.
