Hi, I know, we can use the free ME, but we are sticking with the towncar because we like to make a grocery stop. Thing is, we have never arrived that late. I am pretty sure Publix will still be open, but what about wal-mart? Or any other suggestions will be appreciated...TIA,

Pam

Why not visit www.walmart.com, then search for Orlando-area stores? Once you find one or more convenient locations, select each store and check their hours.

(note to self: be good; don't try to sell OP on the benefits of using DME in conjunction with a grocery delivery service at a potential savings of about 50% AND not having to transpor either the food or their luggage to their Disney Resort room... :))

This was actually going to be my suggestion. We have used Garden Grocer the past two trips with great results. If you prepay the food will be waiting for you at Bell Services when you arrive. My concern with getting in that late is always if the flight is delayed and the kids are cranky I just want to get right to the hotel.

I'm not sure how late the local store hours are. Sorry!

Some Publix stores around Walt Disney World close at 10:00 p.m. and others close at 11:00 p.m.

Wal-Mart Supercenter at 3250 Vineland Road is open 24 hours, and so are other Wal-Mart Supercenters in Central Florida.

I prefer Publix, but with such a late arrival, a Wal-Mart Supercenter is a good choice.

I know, I know, we have researched the DME / grocery delivery option...really, we have...but just prefer to have the towncar waiting, have always had awesome service with the company we use, kids love it...and DH likes to have our luggage in his control as best as he can, so, for now, looking at our usual MO. However, it is still great that it was pointed out because others reading this may not have realized the option of the grocery delivery. Not sure how that works for very late arrivals thought, I mean, I know bell services stores/refridgerates everything, but how early was it delivered for a midnight check-in? And as far as not lugging our bags...DH would be sure to get those himself, no DME tags...so we would be hauling them anyway, to the bus at least. I figure with that late of an arrival we most likely would not have too many stops before ours..but you never know.
Thanks Horace, that was the Wal-Mart I was thinking of (Vineland) and it figures Publix would not be open....ah well, best laid plans and all..... ;)

Would you please do me a favor when you think of it? Would you please ask your husband why he trusts the airlines (which, as I've mentioned in other posts, misdirected 100,000 bags per day last year) to transport his luggage several hundred or several thousand miles, but he won't trust a company that specializes in luggage delivery to transport those same bags twenty or thirty miles? I'm NOT being argumentative, I really want to know. Thanks!

Just a mental thing I guess....we really don't trust the airlines with our stuff, but what choice is there once you've checked it? I have a friend who has worked baggage for AA for almost 25 years...believe me, we KNOW the horror stories...probably why when we do see our stuff we keep it close at hand. If we had 2 more days to work with we would drive, but not to be. Not an issue of trusting one over another, we just have the option of dealing with our stuff ourselves once we are on the ground, we do not have that option in the air... :confused3
ETA: Even if we did us ME, we would get our bags ourselves and put them on the bus, then get them ourselves off the bus at the resort if we are able to arrange that. It is simply a matter of the longer our bags are in our control the less likely anything amiss can happen to them...and if it does , it is our fault, we know exactly what happened. Besides, IF a bag was lost a/o damaged, did not make it to MCO, you would not even know for hours using ME...I am just not comfortable with that. I am happy that the service os offered however...as I have traveled with little ones in the past on my own, and there are times when you just have to accept help. Lugging a stroller, carseat , diaper bag, video camera suitcases, and most importantly holding 2 little hands can be trying. For those who choose not to suffer through that, ME is awesome.
However, when using a TC service , we have yet to "LUG" our bags ourselves. The driver has ALWAYS lifted our bags off the conveyor at pick up, (we always help) and it is a short walk to the car, where he loads our stuff..at the grocery stop he always loads our bags into the car...then at the resort he unloads everything...so hardly a physical hardship on us. Always a pampered way to start our trip.

If you are landing at 10:30, even with a car service you won't be out of the airport before 11:15 or so. No Publix is open that late. Most car services won't stop at Wal-Mart. You might have no choice but to use Goodings.

Thanks Ducklite...That's what I was afraid of...but the TC service we use said they can arrange a stop, but if it is a quickie mart...I think we would just pay the cost of eating out the first day and arrange for delivery at a later time. See, when we drive we have most stuff with us...maybe I will be packing the extra "food" suitcase and just getting bread/milk at the resort. Fortunately I ahve not booked our Airfare yet, but at this timenot much play in our schedule. I DH needs to get the"flu" on the way back and be off work 2 more days.....JK...now I've cursed us!
