call ahead on the day of to let them know We're not a "no-show" but our flight doesn't land in MCO until 11:45pm. After getting our checked luggage and the rental car, it'll be around 1:00 before we arrive.

ask for a reduced rate for that first night

We had very similar circumstances on our Honeymoon. We stayed at POR, and I did call and let them know we'd be a late arrival. I too asked for a reduced rate, and it was a big fat NO. It may be different for you though since it's a Hilton and not a Disney owned hotel. My guess is that you'll get the same answer as we did though, which was that since they have to hold the room for our arrival all day anyway and can't rent it out, they still have to charge full price for that reason. I tried to reason with them that since we weren't coming in til 1am it should count as the next day, and they weren't buying. Good luck and have an amazing time!

You should definitely call the resort in advance to let them know about your late arrival.

But I don't think that you should expect a reduced rate for your first night. Check-in time is 4pm for that timeshare resort and they will hold your villa for you. The fact that you chose a late flight doesn't affect the cost per night.

HGVC International Drive looks like a nice resort, you should have a nice time there. Enjoy!

THANKS

I really hadn't given our arrival time much thought until today's email alert that our flight has been changed (15mi no big deal) and it dawned on me- WOW we won't even get to HGVC until after midnight.

I didn't expect a reduced rate, just thought I'd ask here first to see if anyone had that experience. ;)

I would arrive a day earlier and sleep at the Hyatt in the airport then get full use of my room reservation...we did that this last time and it was great. The "day room" rate was under 100 dollars and we called ahead to tell them we would be there really early and it was not problem. Checked into a comfy bed, slept like a baby, then began our trip.

I agree with this suggestion if it's possible. Have you tried calling the airline to see if any flights are available for you to change to since their flight change doesn't agree with your reservation? I have heard people having success with a change without penalties. May not hurt to ask. They couldn't accommodate everyone who changed their flights, but they may make a FEW exceptions. I'd give it a try. Good luck and have a Fabulous Vacation!

A 15 minute adjustment in departure or arrival time isn't something that an airline would actually consider a change. The airline will not allow passengers to change flights without additional charge for something like that.

Also, the in-airport rental car counters are closed by then. I'm not sure what they do for you after hours but you should call to find out. i remember this past year we got in late and almost missed them.

I don't know about all of the rental car companies but I do know that both Dollar and National are open 24 hours a day at the airport in Orlando.
