We just arrived at SSR for our first DVC visit! Everyone is happy. Got into a room early (9AM), so that was great. We have had to have our room keys printed 3 times for some reason, and they still don't open our apartment door. Hopefully that will get sorted out but everyone is happy.

Have others had problems with room keys not working. It seemed that the CM was having problems with the "new system" and getting things connected to to the keys.

Have a wonderful first DVC visit!

Some of the keys for our BWV 2 bedroom didn't work some of the time during our NYE week stay. Since most of us had our own keys, we always managed to get in. It probably happened 5-6 times during the visit. Don't know why.

Hope everything works out for you and your family with the cards. Keep us updated on Saratoga Springs so we can know what to expect in April when we go for our first DVC trip. In the mean time we'll just sit back and shovel the white stuff that is not pixie dust here in Maine.

I think the problem is the new system needs them to do a bit more training for the staff than has been done. I'm sure it's operator error with a system that probably isn't intuitive. I haven't seen much about Disney IT that has been terribly intuitive!:sad2:

Isn't it nice when your room is ready early in the morning. I had that happen a couple of times. Last time it was a grand villa. That was nice.

Have a great time! :woohoo:

After 3 sets of keys not working, I'd begin to suspect the battery in the door locking mechanism. We've had this happen to us a couple of times - once at a lake resort, once in Vegas. Hmmmm, now that I think about it - the pp's are probably correct & it is the WDW system changes/staff error. ;)

Good luck and enjoy your first stay!!

It unfortunately was not the battery. The bell staff person let us in, and his key worked perfectly. The problem was finally resolved by re-booking our entire trip. I think that it was operator error having to do with purchasing an annual pass at check-in. It was very nice to do that at SSR (and we got a plastic card annual pass and not paper), but that seemed to have complicated the room keys. They finally canceled everything and re-booked it all.

We now have keys that work and APs that work. Everyone's happy.

We had a "system problem" two weeks ago at AKL. My DH KTTW card would open the door, but he could not use it for any DP or room charges.

I would much prefer a plastic annual pass. I am quite jealous.

We're enjoying Orlando and some warm weather. We saw on the weather report that Maine is getting more snow tomorrow, so we're extra happy to be here.

We loved SSR. The 1 BR was really large. The only complaint was that the microwave was too large for the counter top. I'm not sure if it's the same setup in all of the rooms. We're at OKW in a 2BR for 6 nights now. It's really nice (and we love the renovations). We liked the pool at SSR and the restaurants better than OKW, but the rooms are a little larger at OKW. Any of them are very nice though.

April should be a great time here!

Also if you get your room key near your cell phone they wont work. :thumbsup2

The microwave's at SSR are built in over the stove, I have never seen one sitting on the cabinet.

Enjoy your stay, the weather is beautiful now. We've enjoyed our stays at SSR (5 altogether), the last during this past Thanksgiving. The villas have always been clean and showed very little sign of wear and tear! If I couldn't get into OKW, my home resort, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at SSR again.

We stayed in one with the microwave on the counter.. It was a "modified" handicap room. It also had a very nice front load washer, and two peep holes in the door.

However, it did significantly cut down on kitchen counter space.

I agree 100%...you should have heard the discussion I was having back in October with the IT people when my lap top wasn't working. It was just me on this trip and this was a simple set up. Well.....they wanted me to go under this table and then move the couch out and I said "excuse me...I am not getting on the floor nor am I moving any furniture out...I have a bad hip and won't get up off the floor!!! If YOU don't know where this box is please send someone over to find it". The next afternoon when I came back I had a note on the table and my laptop was working. It was a bad router.
