We have a 7:30 am flight out of Trenton, NJ next Saturday. I know it is a small airport, so I am wondering how long prior to our flight we should arrive to be able to get through check in (checking 1 bag) and security? Has anyone flown with a similar flight on a Saturday? When do you think we should arrive?

We flew out of Trenton last year. 6:30 should be plenty of time. Unless things have changed, remember that there is NOTHING once you pass security. No restrooms, vending machines, nada. Only a few chairs and the door to the Tarmac are on the other side.

Thank you both! I see the site says to check in 45 minutes prior. I am assuming that means to get to the Frontier desk first, then go to security?

We flew out of Trenton last year. 6:30 should be plenty of time. Unless things have changed, remember that there is NOTHING once you pass security. No restrooms, vending machines, nada. Only a few chairs and the door to the Tarmac are on the other side.

Things have changed, dramatically. After Security, there is now 2 gates, extra seating, bathrooms and a small snack bar with prepackaged sandwiches and munchies like potato chips, candy, bottled soda, not to mention a bar (not sure if they have the full variety they do upstairs or not).

A few other things to note

1. 45 minutes is the CUTOFF for checking in at the counter (including if you are just dropping off bags), so make sure to get their ontime.
2. They now have overflow parking lot due to the expansion of flights. On a Saturday odds are the 2 main lots will be filled and you will have to use the overflow lot 1 mile down the road. There is a free shuttle to take you back to the terminal.

So I'd get there by 615am, just to be safe being that you will have a bag to check. They also have a resturant upstairs located across from the check-in area, so you can get breakfast there after you check-in if you need to. Good prices, decent food and a great view of the tarmac.

Remember to check-in online and pay for your bag, its $5 cheaper doing it that way and there might be a seperate back drop off line (I forget, I never check a bag).

Thanks! My DH is dropping us off since he's staying home. Any idea where that area is? I'm checking 1 bag and I'll pay that during online check in. (Thanks for the reminder) happy to hear they added a bathroom after security!

Google Frontier Airlines.... We were booked on a flight to MCO and once I read about the horrendous service, delays, fees and risk of being stranded for days... we bought tickets on a Southwest flight instead!

Frontier will close the reservation desk 45mins prior to your flight, if you approach the desk even a minute late (even if you've been waiting in line!) you will be denied boarding! They also apparently have a huge track record of delaying flights or outright cancelling them, leaving people without another flight for days (since they often only have one flight that day).

I didn't want to take the risk of not getting on our flight or having to chalk up an absurd amount to buy a same day ticket on another airline if we were to get stuck.... hence, I decided to forgo my frontier flight and buy tickets elsewhere.

Good Luck.

I'm a first elite tier (Ascent) member of Frontier's frequent flyer program and in all my travels I've only had 1 cancellation and that was due to weather. They brought a plane in the next day for an extra flight to Orlando. There were also a lot of weather cancelations in Philly that day too. The secret about canceled flights these days is that most flights go out 90-95% full due to the airlines reducing frequency to maintain profits (All those mergers have shrunk the amount of flights), so your not likely to get out the same day on any airline regardless of how many flights a day they have and unless its a mechanical delay they don't put you on another airline even then you'll still likely have an overnight wait.

To answer the question about being dropped off. Thats easy take I-95 to Exit 2, turn right off the ramp, in about .25 miles you'll turn left on to the terminal access road (it comes up quick around a curve but there is an advisory sign on the right hand side of the road right before the larger sign). About .4 or .5 miles up the access road you'll see the parking lots and the terminal on the right and a sign for Parking/ Pickup-Dropoff area. There is also a cell phone lot right after the main parking lots that your husband can wait when he comes to pick you up.

Thanks! We did a dry run Saturday...took a total of 9 minutes to get there:) So much better than the drive to PHL!
